Florida - Museums on Us - Bank of America / Merrill Lynch

If you have Bank of America or Merrill Lynch account, you can take advantage of their Museums on Us program and receive free general admission to about 150 museums across the USA on the first full weekend of every month.   Please visit the museum websites to determine hours over holiday weekends.

"Shiny and new"

The newly opened Tampa Museum of Art sparkles in the Florida sun both inside and out.  The sleek, modern design along the banks of the Hillsborough River in downtown Tampa make this a wonderful addition to any Tampa Bay visit.  

Our preschooler enjoys the Saturday morning drop in art classes (The Art Spot) which incorporate the current exhibit in the self-guided art activities.  Themes change each week which keeps the experience fresh and fun.

2. Museum of Fine Arts

"Wonderful collection"

The newly renovated Museum of Fine Arts in downtown St. Petersburg is a pleasant afternoon alternative to all of the sunshine and sand during your visit to Florida.  The permanent collection is a feast for the eyes and the wonderful variety of temporary exhibitions keep the locals coming back for more.  There's a huge Kapok tree around the museum which is ideal for family photos.   The cafe offers tasty treats for all ages.  Some of the volunteer staff are nervous when they see young families enter the galleries while others actively engage our preschooler by pointing out unique aspects in the artwork that might get overlooked.
