We love to visit playgrounds with our kids. We try to make sure to visit a new one every few weeks. Make a picnic lunch, grab a bottle of water and check out a few of our favorites!

There isn't much by way of playground equipment here, but watching the planes take off will make up for it!

"Listen to air traffic control!"
There is not much to this park...an observation tower, a couple of those spring airplane toys you can ride on, and tons of benches and picnic tables. At first glance, you are going to think you should get back in the car and find a playground. Until you walk to the observation tower and look around. As you listen to air traffic control (speakers hooked up to air traffic control blasts things they and the pilots say) speaks, you will hear the roar of a plane engine as it speeds out from behind a nearby building and takes off. You can watch all sorts of planes from little ones to large passenger jets because this park is located on the Pensacola Airport flight line. We spent an hour sitting, watching the planes, and running around the pretend runway.

Solutia Park has long been a favorite of ours. Rest on a bench while the kids climb through what we call the castle!

"Perfect park for an afternoon outing!"
This huge park is on a little lake near the Solutia Plant. You can rent it out for birthdays or parties but you must be an employee. If you are having a small gathering you are allowed to set up on a picnic table or under a tree, you just can't use the pavilion. The park is one of the best in town. There are lots of things to climb on, several slides, tire and regular swings. There is also an area set aside just for toddlers with toddler sized things to do. There isn't really one spot where you can sit and see your children all over the park so you will have to move with them as they bounce from thing to thing.

Grab a drink from the bar and relax while the kids dig in the sand or climb on the little playground while you wait for your meal!

"Grouper nuggets come in a sand bucket!"
Peg Leg Pete’s is one of the first places we take people when they want to see a piece of Pensacola. Seating is limited but the food is worth the wait. Located on the water, the views are beautiful. Seating is available both inside and out and the kids will love sitting at the high top tables. While you wait for a seat, take your kids to the great playground right beside the deck. We have spent many hours here! The kid’s menu has grouper nuggets (a personal fav in our house), shrimp and chicken. Each kid’s meal comes in their signature teal sand bucket (with an eye patch!)…take it home for a souvenir. For the adults…boiled shrimp or oysters are the way to go!

This park is one of our favorites because of all of the natural shade!
reviewed on: March 28 2009
The best part about this park is that it has a play structure that is handicap accessible. There are several different play things for the kids, both toddlers and older. The park is one of the big neighborhood parks in Pensacola. There are tons of picnic tables around and people often have birthday parties in the park. Because the park is so big, the one problem is that there is nowhere to sit where you can see everything. If your child wants to move to another spot in the park, make sure you go with them! They can get lost easily. There is a lot of shade so on the hot summer days you can find somewhere to sit.

This park is a bit of a drive for us but we love it! Check into the Community Center while you are there and pick up a list of classes.

"Great park, beautiful view!"
We discovered this park during a playdate. The park is great for all ages. There ramps, bridges, and things to climb. The park is set next to a beautiful community center that is available for rental and also has classes and continuing education available. A couple things to pay attention to: On one side of the park, there is a very low brick wall. While we were there a child cut his face on the brick badly so remind your children to be careful when running around. There is a beautiful boardwalk with benches to sit on. Keep ahold of your little ones because there is no guardrail. Also, this area is often in the newspaper as not being safe to swim/drink/etc. so stay out of the water! It is still beautiful and the kids will love the adventure and the playground!

"Great park but super busy in summertime."
This is a fabulous park like the other posters said. The park is community built and you can see the love that was put into this park. My kids loved running around this park and climbing on the different play structures. It is nearby the Navy base so you can stop by the Naval Aviation Museum. My only two complaints about this park are: 1)there is not a lot of tree coverage over the park. There are tons of covered picnic tables but they often fill up quickly. and 2) the park is huge so you need to make sure that you keep a close eye on your kids. I didn't feel like I could let my kids play on their own because there are too many blind corners and hidey holes!
