"Fly an airplane or meet a Blue Angel!"
One of our favorite places to go on a rainy day is the National Museum of Naval Aviation.  The first place my kids head are the Cockpit Trainers were we can all climb in and out of airplane and helicopter cockpits.  The kids love to see if there is a new IMAX movie playing and look at all the planes hanging from the ceiling.  When the Blue Angels are home, check the schedule to see when you can view their morning practices.  After practice, you can even meet the Blues and get their autographs.  Perfect for the little (or big) pilot in your household!

"Perfect for camping!"
We camped here for a weekend and had so much fun.  The campsite is beautiful and well kept.  The bathrooms were unusually clean when we were there.  We went for a nature walk to visit the tallest waterfall in Florida, which is actually just a trickle!  There are also a bunch of sinkholes to look at.  There is a small lake area where you can go swimming.  My kids loved going to the ranger talk where the ranger showed us snakes native to the area.

"Perfect for camping"
We love to camp at the Florida Caverns State Park.  You can take a short tour of the caverns while there.  The kids will love the stalactites and stalagmites and the fact that it is dark and spooky!  We were a little disappointed in the amount of trash and graffiti at the entrance of the cavern site.  I do not know if it has been cleaned up since.  The campsites are set in a beautiful part of the woods.  The bathroom facilities and the campsites are clean.  If you don’t have enough time to camp in the Florida Caverns State Park, the park is not far off of I-10, you can take a short break and walk through the caverns if you are driving past the area.  Before you hit the road again, have a picnic lunch.

"Zoo Boo in October!"
If you are in Jacksonville in October, make sure you attend the Zoo Boo.  The park opens back up in the evening and all the children come dressed up in their Halloween costumes.  It is a great way to use that costume just one more time!  Different organizations and companies set up booths around the zoo.  The kids get to trick-or-treat around the zoo and see some of the animals.  The giraffes were our favorite.  You could tell they were wondering why they were getting some extra late night snacks!
