"Best place for family picking"
Open only on weekends, you'd think this place would be hopping, but it's still nice and quiet on even the best fall days.  The secret?  It's out of the way.  Probably not good for the bottom line, but it's great for families looking for quiet apple picking without all the frills.  There is a free hayride to the orchard (but you can walk there even faster) -- no per person charge for this fall classic.  The apples come in most varieties available in this area, and they are pretty tasty.  My favorite are the Empires!  There are pumpkins and a few other sundries for sale there, too.  It's off the beaten path but most definitely worth the ride!

"Unhurried, calm atmosphere"
The best apples are here, and the best time to go is during the week in the fall.  There are blueberries in summer and nectarines and peaches in late summer.  The apples start in September and are joined by raspberries and more blueberries.  Weekends are crowded with families, and it is more commercial-feeling then, but the weekdays are just perfect for families with younger children.  The fruit is healthy and tasty, and the prices are quite reasonable.  The cider is hard to beat, too!

"Very good for apple picking"
Better for the family festivals, but apple picking is good, too.  There are plenty of orchards with fewer frills and less cost in the same area, but you can't beat their weekend festivals held many times throughout the year.  Excellent restaurant for mom and dad without the kids (gourmet offerings).

"Best for weekend entertainment"
The store sells other local orchards' food for more money than the source, so don't go for the shopping.  Best to go on weekends (you'll get crowds) for the full entertainment value of apple picking, hay rides, pumpkin picking, etc.
