Spend an unforgettable day on Angel Island. Take a fascinating journey on the TramTours into the Island’s military history and cultural past. Some of the park features include the followings:
• Arden Station and Deer Park Station: Board the horse-drawn train here. The ride takes kids more than 100 years back in time on a ride into the park with docents dressed in period costumes.
• Victorian Garden: The garden area looks much like it did near the turn of the 20th century.
• Animal Farms: At Ardenwood, you will see sheep, pigs, turkeys, chickens, rabbits, goats, and cows.
• Blacksmith Shop and Equipment Shed: The blacksmith fires up the forge. Look for vintage equipment, farm animals, and farmcraft demonstrations in the shed.
• Toddler Time – Winter Edition 2012 – Tuesday mornings from 11:00-11:30am. Put on your rain boots and bring the tiny tots out for an exciting, and maybe wet, morning at the farm. Meet and learn all about a new animal friend through stories, chores and fun. (1- 4 yrs.)

Attend a weekend naturalist program to get the full details on the mines and local geology or, from spring through fall, take a tour of the Hazel-Atlas Mine. Crab Cove Visitor Center at Crown Memorial State Beach in Alameda features bay creatures in the 800-gallon aquarium system & uses interactive stations for varying age groups to view microscopic animals, build a crab from the inside out, or get a lug worm's view of the mudflats. You'll see amazing depictions of the underwater world of San Francisco Bay. At the Visitor Center you can also plunge into San Francisco Bay without getting wet.

The Palo Alto Junior Museum and Zoo is a kid's place to think, create and play.
All Junior Museum and Zoo exhibits allow children to become physically involved and immerse themselves in the essence of life, to poke, to prod, to pull, to pick up, and to smell.
The Zoo is home to more than 50 exotic and native animals, of which at least half are brought into classrooms as part of the Junior Museum and Zoo's science outreach program with local schools. Some of the animals include bobcats, raccoons, jungle bats, hedgehogs, ferrets, snakes, and an owl.

Visit Coast Miwok roundhouse; enjoy a scenic drive over Inverness Ridge and through the pastoral lands to beaches and to the historic Point Reyes lighthouse; watch elephant seals near Chimney Rock, tule elks on Tomales Point, migratory gray whales (January through April). Point Reyes is home to over 1000 species of plants and animals. In spring, it is a great place to see wildflowers.

The Little Farm, Tilden Nature Area and Environmental Education Center in Tilden Regional Park offer many nature-related programs and activities for adults and children of all ages. At the Little Farm, kids can learn about and help feed farm animals. In the 740-acre Nature Area they can join naturalists for enjoyable nature walks, muck about in ponds with dip nets and magnifiers, and ramble the hills and meadows looking for bugs, beetles, and animal tracks. Inside the Environmental Education Center, kids can make nature crafts and take a fascinating "underground" journey that reveals the story of the Wildcat Creek watershed. School age kids will get a kick out of sitting in a college classroom. This is a must see for high school kids.
