7 Chinese New Year Parades that you do not want to miss

Chinese New Year falls on January this year (2012) and will start the Year of the Dragon and Lunar Year 4080. At different dates, all around the US, Chinatowns will unveil their Parade. These are celebrations you do not want to miss, even if you are not Asian. The Parade usually includes marching bands, floats, lion teams, dragons and this year, a special emphasis on the dragons of course. “ Gung Hay Fat Choy”!

Comment:
Mark your calendar for an entertaining parade on January 29 from 2:00-5:00 pm. Find your seat on H Street, NW, between 6th and 8th streets. This year, the same day, you can go to the Chinatown Lunar Year Festival from noon to 5:00 pm. Giant Firecracker will set off at 3:45 pm so be careful if your children are sensitive to this kind of noise.
