We also visited Innisbrook Golf Resort and Spa near Tampa Bay, Florida. Be sure to read my reviews about the resort and their Indaba Spa. What an amazing experience! "So much to see"
Outdoor explore a shore area offers plenty of splashing and sand pit fun for little ones.  It does tend to be crowded which makes it a challenge to get up close to the tanks to see the animals on display.  The touch tanks have friendly volunteers able to answer questions about the creatures you can touch.  The shark tank is a favorite with many visitors.

Friday, April 22 at 11am. For something completely different, visit the Zoo to watch the Orangutan family hunt for eggs! Arrive early to secure an up close spot. This annual event is very popular! The egg hunt is included with Zoo admission.

"Amazing up close animal encounters"
Feeding giraffe, riding a camel, spotting cheetah and so much more are in store for you when visiting this gem of a zoo.  The walking paths are wide, paved and meander through the peaceful natural habitats.  This is a very stroller friendly place!  Plenty of restrooms, water fountains and shady spots for a break.  There are great places to grab tasty snacks (what you would expect but aslo cupcakes, ice cream and even beer!)

If the weather is bad, it's a challenge to find a place to wait out the storm or escape from the heat so it's best to venture to the zoo on a great weather day.

The zoo added a few new rides (log flume, kiddie coaster and outdoor splash areas) which are very popular with the ten-year old kiddos.  An additional fee is required to ride ponies and camels.

"New Sky Trail Ropes Course"
One of the best aspects to visiting MOSI is that they offer new and interesting exhibits all the time.  As of July 2011, MOSI added a Sky Trail Ropes Course which is absolutely wonderful for all of those adventurous folks out there!  There is a fee for this new activity.  You can opt to go on the Ropes Course without having to pay for the overall MOSI entrance fees or include the Ropes Course as a part of your visit to MOSI.

There are height and weight restrictions so children have to be at least 42" tall to go on the ropes course with an adult and at least 48" to go on their own.  There are 36 elements on about three different levels ranging from 12-36 feet off the ground.

You are buckled into a harness and have a safety line which you can hold onto if you lose your balance along the way.  We had an absolute blast climbing all around the metal structure.  My preschooler keeps asking when we can go back!  If you plan to go on the ropes course, try to do that first or as early in your day as possible...it can get hot and bright.  Earlier in the day, the ropes course is shaded by the IMAX dome which makes it nice.  Have fun!

"Plenty of outdoor activities"
If your family wants to experience a wonderful parks and recreation program, then visit this expansive park in western Manatee County.  We ran across the fields, had a blast exploring the playgrounds, swam in the kiddie pool and toured the new Fitness Center.  There are fees for some activities and programs but they are minimal.  Bring your sunscreen as there are not too many shady spots.

"Shoppers Paradise"
Driving up to the St. Armands Circle is a treat!  From all directions, the streets are lined with beautiful palm trees and native plants.  There are unique, speciality shops as well as national chain stores where you will find everything from flip flops to fancy diamond jewelry.  If you get hungry, there are lots of restaurants, ice cream shops, a chocolate lovers dream shop, and high end bistros.  The sidewalks are wide enough for strollers.  There are shady outdoor tables so you can people watch.  There's not too much for your kiddos to explore unless they really like to shop.  So, let the children play at the nearby beaches with one spouse while you take turns shopping.

"Great art festivals and events"
Throughout the year, the Siesta Key Village Association presents a variety of fun, family friendly events.  Parking is a challenge and the crowds make it diffcult to keep track of the kiddos at times.  The Siesta Fiesta will be held from April 30-May 1, 2011 has a variety of unique, high quality arts and crafts vendors.  It is very crowded and difficult to navigate with a stroller but would be ideal for any art loving couple.  Visit the website for a detailed list of annual activities.

"Family friendly park"
This wonderful park is located south of Sarasota and north of Venice.  If you are in the area, you'll be glad that you found it.  There's a nice shady area near the covered playground and lots of places to relax as well as a short fishing pier, a community center, tennis courts, covered outdoor basketball courts, and a community center which can be rented for private parties.  This park is also the starting point for the Legacy Trail which is great for bike riding.  There's a half mile shelled-path with fitness stations scattered along if you are up for a quick workout.

"Plenty of park activities for all"
There is so much to do and see in this lovely park and recreation complex.  Located in the heart of the City of Largo (part of the Tampa Bay community on Florida's Gulf Coast), our preschooler loves visiting and playing on the shady playgrounds.  The pool has a fantastic, HUGE water slide and the kiddos have as much fun splashing in the pools as their parents!  The hard court tennis courts are in great condition and the newly opened skate park is a boarders dream come true!  Plan a vist, you'll all be glad that you did!

"All aboard for historical fun!"
We visited the trains for a "Day Out with Thomas" special event and had a wonderful time!  It was very crowded but the trains held so many passengers that wait times were minimal.  You can get up close and explore the trains a bit before and after your train ride.  The volunteers and staff are very friendly, informative and entertaining.  It is a bit dusty in the parking lot but there is plenty of parking.  There are fabulous special events like a train robbery, special Halloween and Holiday train rides and a World War II re-enactment scheduled throughout the year.  If your family loves trains, this is a great place to explore!

"Hands on farm fun"
We visited the farm one lovely Saturday afternoon for a birthday party and had a blast!  There are lots of helpful volunteers who can answer questions about the farm and animals.  It looks like lots of the barns, animal pens and other areas have been newly constructed or renovated.  We got to ride ponies, handle snakes, take a train ride and explore the petting zoo area at our leisure.  The animals looked healthy and well cared for with clean stalls, water and fresh hay/food.  If it is crowded, parking can be a challenge but there is plenty of it...just hard to find at first.
