A week prior to our arrival, we had called ahead and asked about renting a cot for my teenage son, who wasn’t thrilled at the aspect of sharing a double bed with one of us girls. We were disappointed to find out that there was not enough empty space to put a cot in the room, but ready to make the best of it, knowing that we would not be in our room very much anyway. Upon arriving at the Westin City Center, we proceeded to the front desk for check-in. As the clerk was pulling up our reservation, the manager, who was standing next to him, leaned over and whispered, “Upgrade them to a deluxe”. He obviously had some experience in hotel stays with children and knew how precious the extra room would be to us.
When we arrived at the room, we were so thrilled with the large, beautiful space, we went back down to the lobby and gave him with a large tip. The room was gorgeous and spacious. There was even a chaise lounge in the room that was large enough for my son to sleep on, so my sister-in-law was able to enjoy a bed to herself.
I can’t rave enough about our stay at the Westin. The staff was attentive and accommodating. Our room was not only beautiful, but also tucked away in a corner of the building, which made me less conscientious about my children’s noisy behavior or the volume of the TV. Our packages that I had shipped earlier in the week, were delivered to our room. The lobby staff was so attentive, always there to open the doors and offer a friendly greeting. The concierge helped us several times locate attractions we wanted to visit and gave us fabulous directions and suggestions.
For the first time ever, I found myself having to utilize the hotel’s babysitting service, when mid-week my daughter refused to leave the room and spend another day on her already tired and sore feet. The elderly lady who came to sit with her was friendly and pleasant and they ended up having a great day watching Disney Channel!
