We stayed at the Westin Kierland Villas for 3 nights in April during our daughter's spring break. We used Starwood points for our stay and we're pleasantly surprised by what the Kierland Villas and the surrounding area had to offer.
We stayed in a two room, one-bedroom suite. The villas are one of Starwood's "Vacation Ownership" (i.e. Timeshare) properties, so be prepared for invitations for a "free" gift that comes with a sales pitch (we declined by ignoring several messages inviting us to stop by the concierge desk for our free gift). The suite was equipped with a good-sized bathroom and extra bedroom. The kitchen was small but functional with 2-burner stove, dishwasher, and mini-fridge. A washer/dryer was also in the unit. The appliances all worked OK, although the noise was annoying when we were trying to watch a movie (even the mini-fridge condenser was loud).
We mainly came to enjoy the warm weather and the pool. The pool did not disappoint - there's a small slide (minimum height is 42"), a small play area with water spouts, and a small pool for toddlers. we had no problem getting chairs by the pool, even late morning. We also had free access to the Kierland Resort, which is accessed via a 5 minute walk or a free shuttle ride. This resort has a much bigger pool with a lazy river and larger slide (also 42" height minimum).
Service was very good, in general. We asked for a high chair and crib, which came quickly. We did request outlet covers that never arrived. A diaper genie arrived that we hadn't requested. Our only real beef with the room was the housekeeping issues on Day 3 of our stay. They left the door partially open after cleaning our place, so anyone could have entered our room and taken my laptop, our iPhones, etc. They also put some dirty dishes in with our clean dishes, so we had to run the dishwasher again. They also misplaced our wine opener, but one was brought quickly to replace the missing opener.
Internet access is free but spotty (I had to go to the main lobby for a reliable signal).
Overall, a high quality property that was fun for the kids (a 6 yr old and 9 mo. old). We will definitely consider returning.
