"Fantastic stay for families with diverse interests"
My family had the pleasure of staying at the Lawrence Welk resort, San Diego (which is really in Escondido!!) and I was so impressed!! Although we did stay using a time share, the resort offers typical "per-night" rates and different rates if you plan on attending a time share presentation.
Although the resort is located in North Escondido, and a quick drive to Legoland, the Wild Animal Park, and even all of San Diego, you can truly stay and play at the resort all week if you wanted.
The on-site activities are very extensive from typical drop off kid's club programs, to contests, activities, crafts, games, casino nights, dancing, theater, farmer's markets, restaurants and more! The schedule is chocked full of activities from morning until night to suit almost any interest. In addition to their list of scheduled events, the property boasts five pools, two with fun water slides. Each activity center has numerous games. The one nearest us had a pool, outdoor fire pit (where we enjoyed some amazing smores!), ping pong, pool tables, foosball, air hockey, horseshoes, shuffleboard, basketball, beach volleyball, wii, playstations and a playground!!!
Another huge perk of the resort is that all of the rooms are villa/condo style with full kitchens & lots of room for the kiddos to run. We stayed in VERY spacious 2 bedroom that slept 6. Outdoor seating and BBQs abound and we enjoyed quite a few meals in the open air.
I will definitely look into this property for future use, with or without owning a timeshare, and would recommend anyone to do the same.

"Beautiful grounds. Family friendly!T"
The Welk has beautiful rooms but the grounds are spectacular. They have a game room, pools (little and big), a jacuzzi, and just a peaceful place to walk around and be. There is a lake that you can fish on or just enjoy the ducks. My parents go a few times a year and invite us from time to time. We love it!
