This hotel is usually the most affordable of the 3 Universal Orlando on site hotels. The hotel is beautiful. There is a short walk or boat ride to the Universal Parks. You get Express Pass included in the room rate. For us, this is so worth it!! The pool is very nice. We did not like the Asian restaurant at the resort but I guess that depends on on your taste. One thing I would recommend is that you ask the the front desk to overide the air conditioning sensor. If you don't the room will be hot when you get back from the parks. I would recommend this hotel.
I'm not usually a nit-picky person, but in this case I must be. If you look at the hotel from a very broad point of view, it's great! But once you look closer, it jsut doesn't live up to the hype. The rooms were incredibly small and cluttered; not very good for people with young children. Also, the pool was very for VERY young kids and was boiling warm, like bathwater. I'd recommend the Hard Rock.
We were there over march break with our two girls, ages 13 and 11. We all loved it. The hotel was breakthtaking, the food was excellent and the pool area was fantastic. Would definately recommend to all families and even couples. The boat ride to the park was fun and very convenient. The staff was super friendly and eager to please.
Opened in
June 2002 on a fifty-three-acre site directly
across the street from Universal’s Islands
of Adventure park, it is a luxurious tropical
retreat with one of the city’s largest swimming
pools, a 12,000-square-foot monster
designed to resemble a South Seas lagoon,
complete with extensive landscaping,
water cannons, fake beach, and water polo
equipment. Its proximity to Universal is its
best feature, but another great perk for
guests is that your room key provides nowait
access to Universal parks and rides,
and other benefits such as free use of the
water taxi line. The hotel’s restaurant,
Tchoup Chop, is an elegant eatery that
makes a nice reward for adults who have
endured a whole day in a noisy theme
park. Hard Rock Hotel opened in January
2001 with the same park privileges.
