The Standard Downtown La

"My old single self would give it a 5...My mommy self can only give it a 3"

The Standard is a VERY happening place.  If this where 6 years ago and I was single or dating I would have been in heaven.  There is a party on the roof almost every night.  The bar is very crowded with young hip Hollywood types...hip, fun, & fabulous!  I am a mom now and all my wild nights are over.  

That being said this is a very beautiful hotel.  It has a very modern & hip design to it.  There is a full service hair salon, a beautiful bar area, and a pool on the roof, that turns into a club at night.  The room we stayed in was stunning.  There are bathtubs that are extra long, you could almost do laps in them.  My 3 year old thought this was the best.  The room service was also to our liking and the staff was very pleasant.  What I didn't like was it was a loud hotel.  You could hear the music from the roof top club.  The people staying in the hotel kept very different hours than a typical family does.  They also sounded like they where having a very "good" time!  As for location, it's downtown Los Angeles.  Now our downtown does not function like a "normal" downtown.  It is almost strictly used for business.  That means that the hours in which most restaurants are open are the hours which most businesses keep.  They close at 6p.m., 7 latest.  Also there are NO markets in our downtown.  We had to drive 30 minutes to get to one.  Downtown is a ghost town after 7 p.m.  Then during the day there is nothing to do, unless you want to go to the garment district or Alvarado St.  It's also not very attractive or clean.

This was a big oversight on my part.  We like to be adventurous and try out new places. This was just a foolish pick.  If we where still just the two of us we would have had a great time, but we now have our little one and this was just a big flop!
