Rooms Rooms are spacious with plenty of room for a family of four. Bathrooms are large and could use a refresh though families with small children will appreciate the separate bathtub. The beds are extremely comfortable and it was difficult to make ourselves get up in the morning. Grounds The grounds are expansive and there is lots of green grass areas for kids to run and for lawn games. Some activities are spread out from the main hotel area and shuttles will take guests around if they prefer not to walk. Rabbits and birds are commonly seen nibbling on the vegetation. Pools The pool area is tiered so the kids/family area is separated from the adult/more quiet areas. The pools are a highlight. Besides the kids' pool there is another for basketball and volleyball and the very fun lily pad that the kids spend hours trying to cross. The pool has graduated steps so non swimmers can sit with their parents. The new Surge waterplay area is geared toward toddlers and non swimmers and provides an additional pool play area besides the small slide. During school holidays and weekends there are scheduled pool activities and games as well as movie nights. Activities There is so much to do here with kids of all ages - even teens - that it's challenging to fit it all in. There are scheduled activities like a Birds of Prey show and marshmallow roasting and an activity center by the tennis courts. The center is not supervised and kids can play ping pong, pool, foosball or watch a movie in the 12-seat movie theater. There are scheduled movie nights or you can check out a movie and watch when you want. They also have xbox and video games. The activity center is a 5-8 minute walk from lobby and is a perfect hang out spot for tweens and teens. Restaurants We tried almost all of them. Relish, by the golf course is casual with burgers, great prickly pear margarita and homemade soda. It has a nice patio area with golf course views. The Ice cream parlor in the main hotel has more casual breakfast, sandwiches and also drinks and ice cream. The Signature Phoenician crunch ice cream and Phoenician ice tea (Arnold Palmer with prickly pear syrup) are not-to-be-missed. Il Terrazzo is the upscale restaurant with inside and patio seating. The bread bar with homemade breads and pesto and balsamic and olive oil and olives is irresistible. Kids up to 12 get half off the menu prices but receive full portion. If you're participating in the Kids Night Out kids' club, parents receive a 25% discount on food. Kids' Club We didn't use the kids' club and while there are lots of video games and computers, the staff take the kids out for koi feeding, birds of prey and dive-in movie but no swimming.
