"Family Friendly Luxary at The Palazzo"

While many of the hotels in Las Vegas boast family friendly themes and shows, the Palazzo’s main boast is the absolute beauty and luxury of the hotel. We were fortunate to be able to stay on the prestige level which included a private check in right off the elevators. We didn’t even have to enter the casino to reach our rooms. Upon checking in, the staff was so courteous to me and my boys. They were very helpful to suggest places of interest for the family and provided detailed maps of how to get there.  My family enjoyed looking out at the view from the twenty third story window in the lounge while I checked in.
When we entered the room, we were immediately drawn to the view of the Wynn golf course. The huge window had heavy drapes that were open and a sheer roman blind that was left closed. After about ten minutes of searching, I figured out how to open the blinds with the remote near the bed. That became the highlight of the room and the first thing my kids mention when talking of our stay in Las Vegas, “Did you tell them about the remote control blinds?” It doesn’t take much to amuse them.
In addition to the window, there was a large television in an armoire which included a mini bar. We were warned at check in that the bar had a motion sensor and if anything was moved we would be charged. We were fortunately able to avoid any accidently charges, however, I wish there was a way to lock the bar to keep little hands out of it. It was a source of concern for the trip. The room also included a table where we were able to bring food up to enjoy as a family in the room.
Since we were staying for the Winter in Venice package, we had a few extra amenities that were included in our stay. The highlight of these for our family was the elf tuck in. Our boys were mesmerized by the elves as they served milk and cookies while reading a story. Our boys also enjoyed the story time with Santa. They still sleep with the little stuffed animals that were handed out.
We truly enjoyed our stay at the Palazzo and would highly recommend it as a family destination. It is located near many other locations on the strip. The staff was very courteous and always made our family feel welcome.  With so many other “family friendly” locations that make you trade in class for gimmicks, the Palazzo had a feel of a relaxing vacation that my husband and I enjoyed as well as our kids.

"Luxury Vegas Family Fun!"

Many would argue that Las Vegas is not a very family-friendly vacation spot.  I certainly have been overwhelmed by the adult theme while ushering my kids in and out of hotels in my past trips to the aptly named, “Sin City.”  There are, of course, resorts that pride themselves - even brand themselves - as exclusively family-friendly, but the quality of these resorts are incredibly lacking and what you are often left with is a sleazy kid-drop off area that makes the paranoid mom in me completely freak out!!

Enter The Palazzo (as well as its sister resort, The Venetian).  The resort is the largest five-diamond luxury resort in the world, and despite its focus mainly targeting adults and couples, the resort is an oasis in a desert of low-quality family hotels, and it offers your kids an amazing vacation as well.

From the moment you enter The Palazzo, you will be impressed.  The hotel lobby is a beautifully adorned atrium full of light, and the main walking corridors, even through the casino are smoke-free, so you and your kiddos can breathe deeply without reaching for the inhalers.  Despite the size of the resort, all of the rooms are accessed through one central elevator tower, making everything simply laid out and easily accessible.

The Palazzo is an all-suite resort, which means you will have plenty of room.  My family stayed in the Luxury suite: a very spacious room with open floor-plan that offers both a beautiful King size bed, a luxurious sleeper couch, three TVs, a DVD player, a three person dining table, and a small refrigerator (which was unfortunately weighted, so storing leftovers wasn’t really an option!)  The décor hints at retro-chic and does so with a slight touch of whimsy that leaves you relaxed and not feeling like your kids will break anything if you use the restroom.  The bed was soft, incredibly comfortable, and quite spacious, especially if you take into account that at some point, all of my children end up in my bed!!

We were also fortunate enough to stay on the Prestige level, an upgraded package that offers guests great amenities.  In my opinion, it offers families visiting Las Vegas the most amazing gift: a place to relax and play that is outside your room, and yet not down in the midst of the crowded, smoky Las Vegas strip.  As a guest of the Prestige level, your family will enjoy amazing perks and amenities from the moment you arrive, such as your private champagne check in (with waters for the little ones), packing and unpacking services, turn down service (with chocolates!) and full access to the 23rd floor Prestige lounge.  Here you can enjoy a complimentary deluxe continental breakfast (offering everything from the expected muffins and toast to omelets and breakfast burritos), afternoon snacks, tea & coffee, and evening hors d’oeuvres and cocktails.  The lounge is arranged like a massive spread out living room, with plenty of couches and end tables to cozy up in.  This space is a great area for you to play games, meet up with other guests, watch a show on one of the many large TVs, or just relax and snack in a smoke-free, clean environment that overlooks the hustle and bustle below.  The lounge also offers a business center with free computer and fax access, just perfect for updating your facebook status about how awesome your room is!!

If the snacks & goodies in the Prestige Lounge aren’t quite enough for your meal preferences (and actually, the hors d’oeuvres were so plentiful that they did indeed serve as one of our dinners!), there are plenty (over 36 in fact!) of truly amazing world class restaurants on site that are sure to peak your interest and satisfy your palate!  My family enjoyed dining at both the uber hip and laid back FIRST Bar and Grill, and also at the very sophisticated Valentino’s, a beautiful fine-dining restaurant.  I asked my girls which restaurant they preferred, and of course, they liked them both!!  Full reviews of each are available here: http://www.trekaroo.com/restaurants/valentinos-las-vegas-nevada and http://www.trekaroo.com/restaurants/first-food-bar-las-vegas-nevada

As far as entertainment goes, the Palazzo and the Venetian are far from lacking.  Nestled inside the Grand Canal shopping area are real Gondolas, just like in Venice, that are available to ride in for a small fee.  The gondoliers have amazing singing voices and will serenade your family to an Italian tune.  The shops themselves are beautifully laid out and look as if you have entered into Venice itself.  It is truly an amazing site to see; there are a few Venetian surprises that I don’t want to spoil here—but make sure you take a look at the statues inside the shops! In addition to the shops, Madame Tussauds’ wax museum is located out front, a sure hit for celebrity conscious kiddos.  If you enjoy the chance to broaden your child’s cultural horizons, take them to see one of the resort’s numerous acclaimed shows, including “Phantom,” “Jersey Boys,” or the “Blue Man Group.”

Thanks to the Vegas sun, you can pack your bathing suit for most of the year.  The pools at the Palazzo are heated year-round, and there are 10 to choose from between the two connected resorts.  Although there are no strictly kid-themed zones or water slides to ride on, we found an amazing little pool just varying between 1 ½ to 3 feet deep - just perfect for splashing with young ones and giving moms and dads a chance to relax.  The nearby hot tub was of keen interest to my kids because we got to “swim through a fountain!!”  Quite literally the fountain pours warm water right into the tub - what a treat!  The pool decks offer seasonal cabana rentals and even host their own restaurant, Solaro, by renowned chef Wolfgang Puck!  My favorite aspect of the pool deck is that you can access the entire area and the spa from the guest elevators near your room- no need to wander through casinos and shops in your swimming gear to get to the action at this resort- a few flights down the elevator and you are there!

Speaking of the spa, during my stay I enjoyed the Canyon Ranch SpaClub, an amazingly beautiful sprawling spa located on the third floor of the hotel.  Access to the spa is included for your entire family with any prestige package and includes use of the state-of-the art fitness center that even includes a 40-foot rock wall for you and/or your kids to climb.  If you are feeling a little less ambitious, enjoy a yoga class to try to work off all of that yummy food you’ve been enjoying.  The spa boasts Aquavana, a very unique water experience full of all sorts of imaginative ways to relax and rejuvenate using water such as rain rooms, hot and cold pools and stations, and more.  I indulged on a seasonal body cocoon which was both an exfoliating and relaxing experience that any pampered mommy won’t want to miss!

Bottom Line: The Palazzo is an amazingly beautiful, refined and luxurious five-diamond resort.  The Prestige packages are perfect for families looking to enjoy their time in Vegas, as well as find an amazing and relaxing retreat far away from the hustle and bustle of the Las Vegas Strip.

Disclosure: This review is based on a complimentary stay at The Palazzo.  I received no other compensation besides the hotel stay and meals at FIRST Food & Bar, and Valentino’s.  The hotel did not state any requirements that I express a particular point of view.  All opinions are my own.

"The Palazzo"

I LOVE this place...beautiful only begins to describe it.  Of course, I'm a HUGE Italy lover, so any little taste of it that I can get here in the States gets 5 stars from me.  This one's not so much for kids and definitely not for poor people like me, but it's definitely fun to window shop and check out.
