"Rated Family-Friendly by Ciao Bambino"
The Fairmont Miramar is one of the landmark hotels in Santa Monica. The atmosphere is lively and social, even more so now that they’ve opened a top-notch organic restaurant called Fig. The lush garden is wonderful, and there is even a bit of green grass for kids to run around. My favorite feature for families is the Miramar Beach Club with chairs, butler service, and sports rentals—the club is only available to hotel guests. This amenity provides a comfortable way to enjoy the gorgeous Santa Monica Beach. Ideally located on Wilshire Boulevard with easy access to area attractions, shopping and restaurants.

"Beautiful hotel, decently kid-friendly"
We were here in August 2007 for a wedding...the first thing you notice about the hotel is the most amazing tree you have ever seen, the kind of tree that 100 children would have fun climbing (if the hotel would let them!) We stayed in a suite, which we always try to do when traveling, that way the adults have somewhere to stay that's actually lit without bothering the youngsters who are in the bedroom. The living area of the suite was generously sized, and the bedroom was not much larger than the space for two double beds but it was still plenty of space for a family of four.
We largely stayed in the hotel so did not have much chance to check out the surrounding area. The hotel has a nice breakfast buffet with something to please all sorts of eaters (although cheap this hotel is not. After all, it is a Fairmont!) It's in close walking distance to numerous restaurants and I am told the beach is very close by as well although we did not have a chance to check it out.
This is not an economical option for traveling with children, but it's certainly a comfortable one! Generally, kids don't care so much if you're staying in a four-star or a one-star hotel, so I think any extra amenities were lost on them, but parents will certainly appreciate the look and feel of a quality establishment such as the Fairmont.
