It took 45 minutes to check in. We didn't get our wake up call on the 2nd night. They do not have extended check out times, which every hotel we have ever stayed in does on Sundays. Which makes for a difficult morning when you are in town for a kid sports tournament. Especially when you don't have enough time because they didn't give you your wake up call. There is not enough on site parking. I had to park 2 blocks away. My daughter and her friend were pushed outside a locked door by some unfriendly teens who were not guests there. Show that it is unsafe for children! Worst hotel experience ever! Should have their place shut down!
The hotel in general is nice! Tropical theme is a nice compliment to chilly Duluth. Plenty to do, especially in the summer when they have mini golf outside and bounce houses. But the pizza...oh the pizza! It's amazing! We used to order it for take out and bring it home because it's the best pizza in Duluth. I think it's the sauce, or maybe the piles of gooey cheese, or maybe it just tastes so good because you're so hungry after swimming in the waterpark. In any case, a trip to the Edge will be great family fun...and a trip to the Edge with their pizza, will be remembered forever!
The waterpark here is fun with lots to do and plenty of lifeguards, and there's also an arcade, an outdoor playground, and free mini-golf. The key to a good stay here is to get the right room. There are two sections to the hotel. The Tiki Tower is the newer section, with large rooms having either a poolside or waterfront view. The Polynesian Plaza is the older portion of the hotel, and to get to the waterpark you have a short outdoor walk. I've heard poor reviews of the Polynesian Plaza rooms, but we've stayed in the Tiki Tower twice and had a very nice stay.
