Squaw Valley Lodge's location and simplicity are hard to beat. It's walkable to the lift, complete with kitchenettes and outfitted with a spa and fitness facility. The basic decor and worn-in feel can be overlooked for it's price and convenience. Lots of summertime activities nearby like rafting and hiking.

"Wonderful location- tons to do!"
We stayed here for a family reunion and the accommodations were great. They have numerous layout plans so you can choose which is best for your family. We chose a loft unit with a small kitchen. It was perfect. We brought our own food so we could have breakfast in the room and packed lunches for hiking. We spent a lot of time at the pool swimming and playing. We did the hike at the end of the road which leads you up into Squaw Valley Ski Resort. The girls loved playing in the creek, it was probably the highlight of the trip. You can hike further up to the lake which is fun as well. Bring your bikes and go for a ride, there are plenty of places to go. The lodge is about 30 minutes from Truckee where there are restaurants, beaches and grocery stores. In the winter, you can get up, have breakfast and be right there at the gondola to go skiing. Just be careful what you leave in your room- I had a pair of earrings disappear which the resort manager was able to get back from the maid after a few hours of her initial denial of taking them. We would go back, but would opt of of maid service until we left.
