"Great hotel, not QUITE central enough"
We love the modern decor, the fantastic breakfast, and great service at this hotel, but if you have small children it IS several blocks away from all the good stuff. (Except the library, which is right across the street and deserving its own afternoon on your Seattle itinerary.) It's not FAR, but you have heard that it rains in Seattle? Yes. Sometimes it's windy too and if you're hauling everyone down to the market for breakfast in the morning, you're potentially dealing with wind, rain, AND some fairly ridiculous hills. If you are as lazy and/or adverse to whining as I am, it might be worth it to book a room a little closer to the Pike/Pine corridor.
That said, it's often a good score on Priceline and the rooms are awesome. Ask for an upgrade to a corner room - great views and tons of space. The bathroom doors are a bit weird, sort of these sliding not-quite-attached-to-the-wall things, but it's not like you get any privacy with preschoolers anyway, right?
If you aren't toting preschoolers along, the top floor bar has a beautiful view and a friendly bartender, FYI. Also, the price to park overnight (like all other hotel parking garages in Seattle) is painful, but! On the weekends they often put out the GARAGE FULL sign to ward off the locals. Since you have in and out privileges, you can park during the day, then find a spot on the street for overnight and the hotel will remove the parking charge. Not that we did this. I've just HEARD. Ahem.
