"Amazing Oasis for your Family"

The dry heat of the dessert might seem intimidating for some but you can find solace in the oasis that is Renaissance Indian Wells Resort and Spa. Once we parked at the resort we were quickly met by a valet in a golf cart who arrived to swoop up on our luggage and our family to deliver us directly to resort doors. The clean and inviting lobby offered quick service as well as cool water and warm cookies. Check in was quick and easy and we were able to head directly to our rooms.

THE RESORT
Renaissance resorts are known for their elegant style and welcoming community feeling. The grand hall offers a nightly hosted happy hour, dining options, bar service and open seating areas. The pool area was amazing, with large waterfalls, poolside misters, and umbrella shades as far as you can see. The main entrance to the pool begins with a sandy beach where the children can be creative with unlimited sand castles. You can find families lounging throughout the pool. With numerous nooks and shallow areas the pool offers families their own hideaways.
Tip: Make sure you get out to the pool area early and claim your chairs. Although there are many spaces, and the pool attendance will bring you umbrellas wherever you are, you may end up quite far away from the pool itself.

THE ROOMS
When we arrived to our suite we were amazed at the size and the amenities. Our rooms over looked the pool towards the San Bernardino Mountains, which made for a fantastic view. The living area had a flat screen TV, a couch that pulls out into a bed, a desk, and doors that shut to the master bedroom. The bedroom had a bar with a refrigerator, a large TV and a full restroom. We also had an adjoining double queen room for my 4 and 6 year old daughters. This room had a bath tub in addition to all the standard amenities. It was great to have extra space for the children and it made down time easier to accommodate.

THE FOOD
We were able to dine in the main restaurant, CAVA, one morning. We decided to partake in the breakfast buffet. The buffet offered all your usual breakfast items, but some things worth mentioning were their customize juice bar where you could juice your own vegetables and fruits. They also had an omelet bar and pancake/waffle station. They were offering a promotion while we were there; adults chose the buffet the children would get to eat the buffet for free, which is a great value!

THE SPA
I also took the opportunity to visit the Esmeralda Spa. This spa offered a serene setting including: steam room, hot tub, and relaxation. This was a full-service spa that offered services from hair care to full body massage. I selected the Signature Massage where I was able to customize my specific needs, Carlos was my masseuse and he did an amazing job! I highly recommend attending the Esmeralda Spa if you have time; there is no better way to relax!

THE KIDS
The resort also offers a Kid's day camp on the weekend. This takes place in a room just outside the pool area. There are several activities for you to choose from throughout the day. They also allow for drop also adults can partake in some of the less child friendly activities. In addition to the camp they also host several family friendly activities such as "Dive in Movies". These are popular family films play near the pool area.

THE LOCATION
The Renaissance was located in a great area of Indian Wells, it is directly across for the Living Dessert and just a block from a market square with great grocery and dining options. We were able to explore the surrounding areas including the Westfield mall and the Palm Spring Aerial Tramway. The location of the resort is great for enjoying all the greater Palm Springs area has to offer.

THE TAKE AWAY
We had a great time at the Renaissance Indian Wells Resort and Spa. My family will forever remember the wonderful times we shared at the pool and on the property. We look forward to returning to the resort in the future!

"Deserves another 1/2 star.. "

But I am using my "smart" phone. Anyways,  the room was perfect - even though I requested a room adjacent to the pool... I had the best view of the golf course, which was more quiet for naptime. Every single staff member I came across was very helpful and sweet to my 2 small children BUT no more Nickelodeon characters. And I did not notice the extra charge for using this site (we don't get out much. I just thought other people may miss it too). My family would definitely come back!!! Possibly during weekdays when the pool isn't as crowded. Saturday poolside still wasn't bad (about 2/3) but Sunday sun people equaled about 4. Spend some time here!!! Kiddo activities for 4 hours (with an extra fee) and plenty of exploring to do in the area... Outlet mall is only  a few miles away!

"Absolutely Beautiful"

This resort is SO beautiful.  I love it here.  We have stayed here before we had our daughter and after.   I have a two year old daughter.   She likes to sit at the pool and watch everything going on.  She loves to be in the pool and just relax in the sun.  There are 3 pools, one is a wadding pool one has a sandy beach.   The rooms are beautiful and the service is top notch.   The weekend we went there wasn't any kids stuff going on, but we all enjoyed ourselves and will be visiting again this summer.

"Renaissance Esmeralda Resort & Spa"

We wanted to make this trip special for our (almost) three year old little girl as these are her final days as an only child. I heard about the Nickelodeon Getaway at the Renaissance Esmeralda just outside of Palm Springs. This sounded like the perfect way to make our daughter feel special but also give mommy and daddy a chance to relax before the arrival of our newborn baby.

Nickelodeon Getaway
Upon arrival we were greeted by Spongebob Squarepants and Dora the Explorer. This was the perfect start to our fun-filled weekend. Click over to view a short video of my daughter when she first saw Dora.

After spending some time with Dora we decided to hit the pool for some sun and relaxation. My husband and daughter enjoyed swimming and playing on the sandy beach while mommy enjoyed a (virgin) margarita by the pool. The resort grounds are truly beautiful with fire pits, palm trees and a poolside bar. It was quite relaxing!

We had just enough time for dinner before attending the mass sliming show hosted by Nickelodeon. Good times were had by everyone. Children were invited to compete in a game-show style competition culminating with the  popping of slime-filled balloons over their heads. This was followed by a pool-side or "dive-in" movie. It was the perfect ending to a fun filled day!

We made it an early night and retired to our luxurious room. We arrived to find another surprise waiting for us. Dora had stopped by and left a special backpack loaded with a Dora themed items including a book, pillow case and photo album (Spongebob Squarepants themed backpacks are also available). My daughter was so excited to receive all of these extra special gifts. We read her a the good night story and she fell fast asleep.

The next day was our character breakfast with Dora and Spongebob. The food was great and the children really enjoyed themselves. While my husband took boo boo out for more fun at the pool, mommy was treated to the Mellow Mama Prenatal Massage at the Spa Esmeralda.  This was the perfect way to be pampered after 36 weeks of pregnancy.

"Another Family Friendly Marriot"

We stayed here over Thanksgiving weekend this year and it was very relaxing.  We had the Thanksgiving buffet at their restaurant (Cava) and it was delicious!  I mean seriously delicious!

My children loved the pool area - it's large, there is a seperate kid wading pool, or the kids can use the beach entrance.  Yes, beach.  They have a man made beach just for the little ones.  They also loved the Nickolodeon activities they hotel put on (evening movies, noontime "game show", crafts and a meet the character breakfast.  My kids are 4 and 3, but the Nick stuff (except the character breakfast) was really geared to 7-9 year olds.  They got slimed at the gameshow!

My only gripe was that the pool was not heated enough.  We barely used it because it was too cold for me and my husband.

Oh, and one more thing I would recommend.  Sit out by the firepits at night and order the chocolate fondu dessert.  That was super fun for the kids.

And as usual for Marriot hotels, the rooms were big, clean and well appointed.  Make sure you use your AAA card and get that rate.

"All a family could ask for"

At the Esmeralda, there is all a family
could ask for, including a “sand” beach,
three swimming pools, lots of space to
spread out, and family-friendly rates. Up
to five guests are allowed in each spacious
room. Here is the place to kick
back and relax. Dad can try the links,
and Mom can indulge in the stunning
Spa Esmeralda. Or, if there’s a babysitter
on hand, parents can have a “couples”
treatment in one of the private suites.
