"Lovely in Birmingham"
The Renaissance Ross Bridge Golf Resort & Spa in Birmingham is a real gem in the city. It is lovely to drive to the resort and check out the area. The resort has a great lobby, good restaurants, a spa and a great pool. I don't know if I would take my kids here - especially if they were young. It is a nice romantic get away. If your husband like to golf and you like to go to a spa then it will be perfect for you!

"Know Before You Go: This Place Is Beautiful But Remote!"
A big fan of all that Marriott has to offer, this is a beautiful property. If you're traveling with a golfer, the Robert Trent Jones course will be the highlight.
This hotel is located deep within the woods. Surrounded by a beautiful neighborhood, it has a sprawling and beautiful landscape. It looks like a castle. The pool is nice and a manageable size for moms of smaller kids. There are sidewalks connecting the property to the smaller residential community, and you can walk to a very limited number of stores. If you're interested in exploring Birmingham and its surrounding sites you should plan to rent a car.
In summary: I'm giving it three stars. If your family likes golf, this place is for you. If not, stay elsewhere. It is a beautiful property but with kids, seclusion is not always ideal. Marriott has other Alabama properties that would be better vacation spots for families. Beautiful rooms, great staff and service, but not enough activity to entertain little people for long.

"Beautiful surroundings!"
We had a very nice time at this resort. My husband was in a meeting, so my 2 year old and I explored. The hotel itself is surrounded by a beautiful neighborhood with sidewalks and a very nice playground. We went for walks and played. That day they also had a wine festival on the grounds with lots to do for kids and adults. There was a bouncy house, face painting, fun food, arts and crafts, art vendors, live music, and of course wine tasting which was separated from the kid stuff.
The room was very nice, but not big enough to put the crib away by itself. So again, there we were-going to bed at 8pm. But we did have a nice time.
Location.
This Hoover spa resort is near Regions Park. Another area
attraction is Riverchase Galleria.
