From the time we checked into the Red Jacket Beach Resort I thought we were in for a treat. The front desk was helpful, polite and quick. The concierge quickly answered my questions, included my 7 year old daughter in on the discussion and pointed out some additional amenities about the resort that we did not know. We highly recommend the Red Jacket Beach Resort. We have so many great things to say. I have been to the Cape before but stayed only in private homes. I may never want to do that again!
This property is everything you would want in a Cape Cod vacation. The resort is located at the end of a dead-end as it road opens to a wide 1000 foot beach. This amazing beachfront is protected by a jetty so the waves are entirely manageable by children of all ages. The beach is staffed by friendly attendants who help with the onsite beach chairs, beach umbrellas and wants and needs from the bar/restaurant. There is also a playground at the beach for kids who tire of the water.
The grounds here are very well cared for. While we were here there were numerous grounds keepers weeding, gardening, sweeping, and tidying. We were amazed. The outdoor pool was a sight with dolphin fountains, zero entry for the wee ones and beautiful landscaping. If the weather does not cooperate there is always the large indoor pool and spa with ping pong and exercise equipment for use while viewing the pool.
Our room was large, clean and terrific, albeit a bit dated. However, our sliders opened onto a beautiful deck with views of the ocean. A great place to sip your morning coffee. There was also a fridge and microwave in our room. The bathroom was a bit cramped, but we did not spend too much time there anyway. Other rooms on the bottom floor also have the deck and views, but also the ability to walk right out of their rooms to the ocean. Poolside rooms afford the same option, but with the convenience of the nearby pool.
Additionally, as we are a family of 5 it is often difficult to find a room to accommodate us. The Red Jacket Beach Resort has family room that offer a separate bunk room with a TV with its own door to the deck in addition to the 2 queen beds in the room proper. This is great for a larger family or for kids who like to bring friends. Cribs and cots are also available for $10 and $20 respectively if needed. For an even larger group or family you can inquire about renting a cottage, ranch or townhouse located at the same beach with the same great amenities.
Another great amenity here is the Kids Club. This is a free club for kids aged 5-12 from 9Am to 1PM each day packed with activities. Stay all day or drop in, the choice is yours. The club runs during summer and school vacations only. The concierge had mentioned that we could use the amenities at that local sister resorts while staying at the Red Jacket, so while we checked out the South Yarmouth town beach we parked our car at the Red Jacket Riviera Beach resort and also enjoyed their pool with zero entry, water umbrella and water path. This I believe is the best perk. It’s like staying in multiple resorts because you can check out each one. We even had a chance to join in with the Kids Club here as the kids participated in the hermit crab races!
Aside from the Kids Club there are activities to take part in all day. We watched as a couple of families took part in dancing lesson right near the beach. At night we attended a family magic show that was full with visitors and included audience participation.
We had breakfast in the Red Jacket Beach restaurant with a small, but well stocked buffet. The food was fresh and there were a variety of choice for the kids including fruit and yogurt, eggs and sausage. Again the service was great.
We were sad to leave the Red Jacket Beach Resort. The kids were in the pool until the last minute. We hope to go again soon.
Pros:
Excellent family theme with kid’s club and family activities
Room size great and well situated.
Closeness to beach
Use of other hotels
Spa on site
Laid back atmosphere
Cons:
Décor a bit outdated
Use of regular keys instead of keycard. I always thought I was going to lose the key
No elevator to move luggage to second floor
Disclosure: My family was given a one night stay at the Red Jacket Beach Hotel as part of a pres trip. I was not required to supply any particular opinion. All insights are my own.
