"Great location, small rooms"
It's no wonder the first picture for the Otani is of a romantic couple dining during sunset. This is a great place for romantic couples, but nothing special for families.
For a more budget option this hotel is clean and good for what you pay for. However, for a family, it's probably not the best choice. The rooms are small with little space to walk around. We're a bigger family, so felt like our two rooms were a bit cramped. I can't imagine staying here with a baby and finding room for all the gear that's involved.
There's no pool which for our kids was fine since we were at the beach literally everyday and there's one right across the street.
The hotel is a great location because you can easily walk to the zoo and aquarium which is nice for families.

"Great location"
The 125 rooms, in pastels and tropical decor, are on the third to ninth floors of an atrium-style building and have balconies and small refrigerators; some have kitchenettes. The New Otani is on the beach, near Kapiolani Park and the Waikiki Aquarium, and its restaurant, Hau Tree Lanai, is practically on the sand. At the Diamond Head end of Waikiki.
