Microtel Inn Beckley

"Just one night"

We stayed at the Microtel Inn in Beckley, WV as a one night stop over on our way home from TN to NY.  WV is undergoing a lot of construction and therefore you're lucky to find a motel with a vacancy.  We stopped here and were able to get a room right away, but the price was definitely a lot higher than the website quotes, even with the AAA discount.

The room was great for a quick hotel stay, and we had no complaints about it.  We lucked out by being on the 3rd floor, because everyone staying on the 2nd floor was having problems as the 2nd floor button was not working properly on the elevator, so moving in and out was rather difficult for them.  The woman behind the desk said that the people how would have to come to fix it are 2 hours away.  It didn't seem like it was going to be fixed any time soon.

We love staying at hotels that have a free continental breakfast because we can enjoy a quick meal and be on our way.  Sometimes we win, sometimes we lose, and this time we lost.  The selection was very pitiful; we weren't impressed.

The friendliness of the staff was hit or miss, not too bad though.  I am glad though that it was only for the one night and nothing more.
