As with most casinos the majority of the time you will spend outside your room. The rooms at the MGM tend to smell musty have really cheap toiletries and pretty much just the basics.
The kids loved the Lion habitat. We headed to starbucks purchased drinks and pastries and sat to watch the lions.
A few of the moms mentioned the CSI experience as something awesome and very educational, We did not get to try it.
We did go next door to the roller coaster at the New York New York.
The food is plentiful but not kid friendly
The attractions inside the hotel are so much fun especially the lions in the lobby. The casino is also a must see of course. Our room was awesome! The beds in the rooms were the ultimate in luxury. You can't go wrong staying at this fabulous hotel located conveniently on The Strip.
We love this hotel. On kid appeal, there pool has a section that they consider there family section it is a shallow pool with plenty of room for the kids to run around safely, it is connected to a waterfall and lazy river, my daughter is in heaven here. Nothing too exciting like a wave pool (Mandalay Bay) but my daughter is not tall enough for that yet. The Lion exhibit is nice. The Lion's are right up close in an enclosed glass room. This is not a show so some kids could get bored fairly fast. (See my review) The Rain forest cafe is super kid friendly, with lots of mechanical jungle animals roaring, chirping, etc. The food is good, but extremely overpriced. The show that would be reasonable for a child over 3 to see is KA. It is spectacular. The music is some of the best. They have a small arcade that young kids can win tickets and redeem for small trinket prizes. Again heaven!! A lot of people don't know about the arcade because it's tucked away down stairs in the front of the casino. It is always empty.
As for the rooms, we stay in the 2 bedroom suite which is fabulous. Super comfy beds. Tons of room. Huge bathrooms with jacuzzi tubs. Huge living room and dining room. Just perfect for us!
Hotels that are close to MGM are New York New York, which has a roller coaster and an arcade , the Excalibur which has a Sponge Bob ride, a carnival and arcade, and The Mandalay Bay which has the shark reef and Lion King.
This place had a few highlights in the kiddie world! There was the Rainforest Cafe here which was a lot of fun to go in and know what to expect in menu and value in the kids time. Then afterwards we went over to the lion exhibit and they had cubs. For $25 you could go in and have your picture standing next to the cubs. We didn't do it bacuse I waa scared and that was a little expensive but if you are a little braver it would seem like an awesome picture!
We had a terrible room and would not stay here again. Our shower leaked water onto the bathroom floor and our window overlooked the garbage dumpsters. We were awoken every morning to trash pickup.
Vegas is full of great accommodations, so we have no reason to stay here again. The resort/casino itself is nice enough though. The MGM is a great place to vist but I would not want to stay there again.
