"beautiful resort"
We love this resort, this was our second time staying there. When we arrived they had cookies for kids in the lobby. Just next to the lobby is the kids play room with crayons, coloring books, tv/videos, fish tank--our 5 year old loved it and the kids activity staff was fabulous. The pools are very nice, plenty of sun and shade. Just outside the resort is a major grocery store and other shops--all within walking distance. At night, we would go to Cold Stone (just outside the steps of the resort) get ice-cream and sit by the fire-pit at the hotel restaurant.
The beach is also walking distance. It has a play area for the kids and plenty of open beach area.

"Hotel"
My children actually really enjoyed our stay here. We don't get over to tahoe that often but when we do we have so much fun. We always stay here and my kids love it. The hotel staff is always friendly and accommodating of my kids. I will probably always stay at this hotel. What was family friendly for us was having shops and attractions so close by. There was heavenly within a few minutes, a buffet my children loved, and within easy walking distance was some great shopping. The views were incredible and families with older or even younger than preschool aged children would enjoy the stay. Very family friendly environment and hotel lobby had great suggestions for activities.

Convenient location. Can park the car once and walk to great skiing (if visiting in the winter), restaurants, grocery store, coffee shops, etc. Full kitchen in the villa rooms. Ultra clean in all areas of the property. Comfortable beds. Washer/Dryer in rooms. Heated pool and sidewalks. VERY kid friendly. Many onsite activities for kids. Good onsite restaurant, but have to go early (like 4:45) to avoid a long wait, which is not fun with kids--at least not ours!
Location. Nestled at the foot of the Heavenly Ski Resort in Lake Tahoe, Calif., stands the Marriott's Timber Lodge Tahoe. Located less than one mile from this five story hotel are Heavenly Ski Basin, various casinos, Lake Tahoe water sports and Edgewood Golf Course.
Hotel Features. Marriot's Timber Lodge Tahoe promotes an alpine style motif through use of granite tiled floors, and stone and timber accents within the lobby. Log framed wooden furniture, embellished with dark leather upholstery and an expansive rock fireplace comprise the lobby lounge area. The hotel's restaurant, Fire and Ice, serves lunches and dinners with an improvisational grill menu. The hotel's fitness facility includes cardiovascular machines and free weights. Three spa tubs surround the hotel's heated outdoor pool and children's pool. Guests are allowed complimentary access to MAZE Activities Zone, a child friendly locale located on the hotel premises.
Guestrooms. Maintaining an outdoor mountain décor, the 340 guestrooms of Marriott's Timber Lodge Lake Tahoe are decorated with multi colored patterned fabrics and mahogany stained wooden furnishings. The rooms feature Marriott's Revive beds and include 300 thread count cotton sheets, down comforters, designer duvets and bolster pillows. Broad windows allow ample natural light to filter into each room. Rooms feature cable television, DVD players, clock radios and high speed Internet access. Appliance amenities include microwave ovens, refrigerators, washers and dryers. All rooms feature jetted tubs. Select rooms provide kitchens and sleeper sofas.
Expert Tip. Marriott's Timber Lodge Tahoe provides two on site spas. Body Essentials offers body scrubs, body wraps, massages, paraffin hand treatments, steam rooms, manicures and pedicures.
