"Weird & Fun!"

We stayed at the Madonna Inn when we visited San Louis Obispo.  One big negative - there wasn't a pool!  Plans were in effect to build one, but we went at the wrong time.  Each of the 110 rooms at the Madonna Inn was decorated in a different style/theme.  My girls loved the caveman room.  It was fun to pretend to live like the Flintstones.  We enjoyed touring the hotel and dining in the all pink restaurants.  The desserts were amazing.  We had to take some cake to go.  Don't forget to check out the wine cellar and the gorgeous bathrooms near the wine cellar.  I might have looked like a lunatic taking pictures in the bathroom, but it was too pretty not to.  lol

"Copper Cafe"

I have never stayed at the Madonna Inn but I have eaten at the Copper Cafe at the inn. Their dinning room is pink and cheery, kids will love the atmosphere, especially little girls. Their breakfast are good and their cake is excellent! This would be a great place to bring your daughter for a birthday dessert or other special occasion. You can walk around the steak house too. It's all done up in an over the top, gaudy sort of way that I think is fun. Oh, and the men's bathroom has a water fall for a urinal...random I know, but kinda fun!

"Unique!"

This is a great piece of San Luis Obispo history.  With its wide variety of hotel rooms, each with a unique theme it is a honeymooners delight.  Don't miss out to on the fantastic food at the restaurant and bakery.  Out of this world layer cakes with chocolate curls on top await your beckoning call.  This is truly a great tourist stop.
Occasionally to they have special evenets at their new convention center, like health fair and home shows.  These are fun and usually free to attend.

"Great Hotel, Average Food"

If you want to stay in a unique upscale hotel, then this is the place to go!  It is always beautifully decorated and is plush and grand.  If you go, one of the things that are always talked about are the restrooms especially the men's restroom where the guys pee into a waterfall.  It is a fun place that even offers ballroom dancing on certain evenings.  I would go elsewhere for your meals though.  They are expensive and taste average.  The pastries and birthday cakes on the other hand from the bakery are delicious!  :)

"Kids love this"

This place is almost exactly between San Francisco and Los Angeles, and every single room is uniquely decorated. We took a chance and just stopped off one night, and they'll tell you what rooms are available, you can go to the pictures and let your kids choose! We had a great time.

"My kids still talk about it"

Staying at this hotel was a surprise for my husband's birthday. We stayed in the Safari Room, that has a Waterfall shower. The room was really big and very kitshy (but that's why you go there). My children are still talking about the room and are dreaming of going back and try the Pony Room. The swimming pool with the waterfalls and view of the valley is soothing. We had dinner at the restaurant. It was Christmas and the whole place was darling. The food was average and expensive though. I will definitely go back there one day (but will skip the dining experience)

"The kids will definitely want to check this out! "

Not named after the provocative entertainer, this nonetheless hard-to-miss pink-and-white inn was built in 1958 by Alex and Phyllis Madonna. Each of the 109 guest rooms is wackily different. The Caveman Room was carved out of solid rock, for heaven’s sake. The men’s restroom is world famous for its imaginative waterfalls. The kids will definitely want to check this out! Enjoy freshly baked treats from the Pastry Shop adjoining the Copper Café. The Gold Rush Steak House is over the top in its pink decor (and its prices, too) for basic American fare. Stay if you dare, but eat elsewhere.
