We stayed here one night when we went up to ski Sugar Bowl. This lodge is right on the lake and has a terrific deck. It was covered in snow when we were there but I bet it's fantastic in the summer. Just watch the kids as it doesn't have a railing. The care takers were super nice and made sure we had everything we needed including ice scrapers for the morning and even let us borrow a sled for a bit! We had a WWIII style snow ball fight out there and I ended up surrendering to my two young boys.
The room was spacious and had a queen sized bed and a hide-a-bed sofa which we put the kids on. There was a very small "one butt" kitchen that came with everything you need to cook and serve a simple dinner and a small dining table with bench seating like in a restaurant. The view over Donner Lake is picturesque to say the least. It was a very short drive up the mountain to Sugar Bowl. There was a general store just down the road where we got some pasta for dinner. There is a nice gas fireplace to keep the room toasty and warm and dry out your wet pants.
