My husband and I stayed here in January 2010 while touring the Keys. When my husband had made the reservations online we were eager to stay at this "resort". The pictures online looked great and it was right on the water. The first thing we noticed was the smell. The water smelled strongly of sulfur - not very pleasant. We checked into our room, which if you look on the website is the standard purple room, and it was okay. Nothing fabulous. We dropped our luggage and went out to see the sunset. And a beatiful sunset it was. There is a dock right off the parking lot which has two chairs at the end so if they're already taken you're out of luck. And the beach is not a beach...I didn't even want to walk on it! The pool was closed but it was January so I wasn't really expecting it to be open. We then went back to our room to relax. Shortly thereafter, we discovered an infestation of ants on the night table. I was disgusted. My husband went to the front desk to see if they could move us to a different room and the maintanence man came and gave us a can of Raid and told me that it was probably the soda I had just opened. Um, yeah right, it's not like I had spilt it and let it sit for hours! The next morning we took a shower in the bathroom that was the size of a closet and less than desirable. And there was only cold water on an already cold January morning (they were having record lows). We then went to leave and found our car covered in bird poop but I do understand they have no control over the birds! From what I understand they are renovating so hopefully it will be a lot better - maybe they can renovate the beach while they're at it!
