"Loaded with Southern Comfort!"

King and Prince Resort, located on beautiful St. Simons Island in Georgia, is a beach resort and four star hotel and the perfect choice for vacationing families! The resort is famous for its golden hue (Sherwin Williams even named a paint color after the resort!) and luxurious accommodations. Their attentive staff caters to each guest, personalizing vacations and making visiting families feel at home. Concierge is available daily to guide vacationing families and make their trip to St. Simons Island fabulous!

Luxurious Accommodations

King and Prince Resort has recently undergone extensive renovations and upgrades to its rooms, making each type (22 in all) fresh and appealing. Using the beach and Atlantic Ocean as inspiration, each room is beautifully decorated in hues of tan and blue. Crisp white linens and trim complete the coastal theme. Room options from a 2 queen bed layout to a larger, 3 bedroom with a full kitchen condo make family vacation planning easy and budget friendly.

My family and I had the pleasure of staying in an Oceanfront room in early October. The most popular choice for families visiting with children, our room was spacious and gratifying. We chose the 1 king bed with sleeper sofa option, and it was the perfect room for my family of 3. My daughter found the sleeper sofa mattress extremely comfortable and the bedding soft. Our king bed was pleasurable with fresh, crisp white bedding and a soft duvet and pillows. A large desk with two comfy chairs and a separate area with a large mirror and dedicated lighting were welcomed additions. The large closet was spacious enough to hang several outfits and allowed for a large suitcase to be stored horizontally across the bottom. A large flat panel television and DVD player on a wooden dresser was perfect for watching television after a long day of sightseeing before bed. Need more sleeping space? A 2 queen bed with sleeper sofa room is also available.

Our fourth floor room had a stunning southeasterly view of the Atlantic Ocean and King and Prince’s largest pool area. Each Oceanfront room has a beautiful patio or balcony area accessible through floor-to-ceiling patio doors. Our balcony had 2 patio chairs and a small table, perfect for viewing the ocean by day or sitting outside at night and listening to the sounds of the sea. A sliding screen in the patio doors allowed us to leave the doors open at night while we slept to enjoy the cool ocean breeze.

The bathroom was just as lovely and spacious. Our bathroom had a large tub area with double shower curtain and a vanity with sink and roomy table for bathroom necessities. Spa quality toiletries were on the vanity in a cute tray and cute, seashell shaped hand soap was beside the sink in a white, ceramic dish. Luxurious towels and washcloths were neatly rolled up on a shelf under the vanity. My daughter loved taking a bath in the tub and loved wrapping up in the large, fluffy towels after her bath even more!

King and Prince Resort is the only 4 star resort on St. Simons Island and its amenities add to its luxury.

Two soft court tennis areas are meticulously maintained every morning. The onsite tennis pro, Pride Evans, is available for individual lessons and pointers and for private lessons. Don’t worry if you forget or unable to bring your rackets: loaners are available for family and personal use.

King and Prince prides itself on its many pool options. The main pool and patio area contains 3 separate pools and a large, covered sand play area. . Renovated in the spring of 2012, the tropical-themed area has a kiddie pool with whimsical fountain, a three-feet deep pool for older children and adults and a large oval pool. New patio furnishings and lounge chairs with umbrellas allow for relaxing and all areas of the patio have breathtaking views of the ocean and beach. All of the pools and the refurbished patio are in an enclosed area, yet are only steps from the velvety-sand beach! Chaises and chairs, as well as pool towels for guests, are readily available inside the gate. The beach area directly in front of the patio is a public beach, so if your wee ones love to spend time in the ocean and playing in the sand be sure to bring your own beach chairs and toys.

The Royal Treatment Cottage is a fabulous way to spend a few relaxing moments. Once a beach cottage, the tiny house has been transformed to a restful and calming massage therapy center. Dual massage appointments, as well as individual options, are available daily. Knowledgeable staff will help you decide on the perfect way to unwind.

The on-site exercise facility is complimentary for guests of King and Prince. With free weights, treadmills, and elliptical riders, exercisers can watch the large flatscreen maintain their health.

Golf enthusiasts will be eager to try the King and Prince Golf Course! With a challenging layout and award-winning status, lovers of golf will adore the beautifully-landscaped course. Famous for its salt marsh island holes, the course is perfect for beginners and advanced golfers alike. Transportation is available from the resort and the course is a short 12 miles away. A clubhouse, pro shop and certification with PGA give this course the necessities and credentials any avid golfer will appreciate!

Dining Options

The King’s Tavern and seasonal Ocean Terrace Grill are terrific onsite dining options for families staying at King and Prince. The King’s Tavern is a higher-end indoor restaurant serving sandwiches and salads during lunch and more formal options for dinner, such as scallops and shrimp.(For more information on The King’s Tavern Restaurant, please see my review.) With an executive chef and menu that changes frequently, the King’s Tavern is great for special occasions or everyday dining options. The Ocean Terrace Grill is the King and Prince’s informal eatery. Located outdoors on a large, fenced-in patio adjacent to the Atlantic Ocean, the menu offers casual meal options and a bar with signature drinks and cocktails. Light dining fare, as well as heartier meal options, can be eaten at The Ocean Terrace Grill or may taken to the pool and patio area.

King and Prince has recently started a new in-room dining option: Pizza delivery! A fast call to room service and your family can have fresh, hot pizza delivered straight to your room. An in-room breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu is also available.

Friendly, First-Class Staff

King and Prince has attentive, knowledgeable staff. Smiling faces greeted my family each time we entered and exited the main lobby. Any questions we had were answered thoroughly and with the utmost care. My daughter was treated like royalty and loved to carry on conversations with the front desk staff and management. They certainly made her feel special, which made my husband and I feel right at home. Housekeeping made our room cozy and comfortable with chocolates on our pillows and sweet well-wishes for a pleasant stay on our table each day. We always seem to forget items from home when we travel and the front desk helped us replenish our missing items with their in-stock, free of charge travel necessities.

The King and Prince has a beautiful spot on the southeastern section of St. Simons Island. With velvety sand beaches and calm ocean waves, visitors to the island are happy to simply visit the beach and play in the ocean. For families that are a little more adventurous, St. Simons offers plenty of options. Pier Village, just south of King and Prince, has numerous quaint shops and restaurants, all maintained by local owners. A community pool, 2 playgrounds, and a still-functioning lighthouse are available for visitors. Several other shopping areas around the island, as well as dozens of locally themed restaurants and barbeques are closely located via walking, biking, or driving.

Our trip to King and Prince Resort was a wonderful and relaxing weekday vacation! With the help of its welcoming staff, the wonderful meal options, our luxurious beach-themed room, and its perfect location on the beach, we truly couldn’t have asked for a more pleasurable stay. We would happily stay at King and Prince again!

Disclosure: My family and I stayed as guests of King and Prince Resort for the purpose of this review. My review is honestly written and, as always, my opinions are my own.
