"The perfect place to stay for slope-side comfort"

If you are looking for a resort in Mammoth that has condo style rooms, amazing mountain views, and is literally steps from the Eagle Mtn. chair lift, then this is the resort for you.  My family absolutely loved our time at Juniper Springs.

The first thing I noticed about the property was the friendly staff at the front desk. We arrived a bit too  early but the staff offered to keep our bags, store our ski equipment in a locker that we would have access to, and even call our cell phones when the room was ready.  I decided wander a bit around the first floor of the hotel and found an equipment rental facility that also sold lift tickets to Mammoth Mountain (the property is owned by Mammoth Mountain), a small coffee/food stand that also sold essentials such as toothpaste and aspirin, list, a game room with multiple flat screen tvs and gaming systems,  workout rooms,  and a heated pool with 3 spas.  I couldn't believe how many kids were in that pool when there was still so much snow on the ground!

Our room had two bedrooms.  One bedroom had bunk beds and a double bed which would be great for larger families but felt very cramped because of so many pieces of furniture in a space that was not designed to accommodate them.  That being said, if I had more children, the space issue would have been overshadowed by the opportunity to house my whole family together.  The master bedroom had a comfortable king sized bed, was tastefully decorated to reflect the mountain atmosphere, and had a flat panel tv on the wall. The master bath had a wonderful sunken tub which we happily took advantage of after a chilly day on the slopes. There was another full bathroom which served the second bedroom and the rest of the living space.

The kitchen had a full size fridge, microwave, oven, range, and dishwasher- all the comforts of home, but better.  The counters were granite and the appliances were high end stainless steel. The kitchen allowed us to cook meals in our room when the kids were too tired to go out to a restaurant and gave us a place to store and reheat leftovers.  There was a small dining table that seated four in between the kitchen and living area.  The living area had a couch and a recliner along with another flat screen tv with direct tv and a video game system.  Games are available at the front desk.  There were also a variety of current magazines in suite as well as family friendly board games.  There was also a fireplace that was controlled by the thermostat which the kids thought was incredibly cool.  Our room had a balcony with a small table and chairs which looked out at the snow covered mountains.  And best of all for computer junkies like me and my husband, the internet was free!

The second morning of our stay we woke up to snowfall.  It was my children's first time seeing snow actually fall from the sky and they were eager to head out onto the balcony to stick out their tongues and catch snowflakes. After we got bundled, we grabbed our sleds and enjoyed the hills on resort property along with some other families. They weren’t huge but they were plenty big for our four year olds. It was nice not to have to pay to sled at one of the sno-parks.  My husband grabbed his snowboard and walked over to the lift about a hundred yards away.  It was so nice not to have to drive to the crowded parking area in the nasty weather.  The kids got a kick out of watching people ski down the mountain and literally back to the hotel entrance.

Bottom line: If your family loves to ski or snowboard, this is the perfect resort to call home during your time on the mountain.  The condo style rooms allow families to have space and privacy as well as a place to save money by cooking a few meals.  The convenience of being slope side is incredible.  We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to families looking to enjoy Mammoth.

Disclosure: My family did receive a complimentary stay at the Juniper Springs Resort in order to write this review and article for the Talking Trekaroo. They did not request that I express any particular opinion and as always, my reviews always reflect my honest opinion of the place .

"Great hotel for families"

Perfect for families - one to three bedroom suites - small rooms, but well-apportioned.  Right on the Eagle run so it's ski-in, ski-out.  They have indoor parking and a locker room for skis and snowboards so  you don't have to lug your stuff up to your room.  No restaurants, so bring groceries, go out, or order in.  A small coffee place on the first floor.  A heated outdoor pool & spa are nice.
