We just returned from a one night stay at the HR San Fran. It is a wonderful hotel, good location (across from the ferry building) except during work hours. My husband and I took our 2 year old to enjoy the CA Academy of Science and decided to stay at the HR San Fran because we had a free night cert. When I reserved it, I was told there were only double beds available. I called to request a king bed which we were given at check in. My husband is a Platinum member so we also requested a roll away bed and a refrig for our toddler, which we were given free of charge. i thought that was wonderful. We were also given a wonderful room with a view of the bay (and boats for my toddler) and a balcony. Just be VERY VERY CAREFUL if you have a small one with you. The balcony is made of cement and has pretty wide openings between the cement and from the wall to the balcony so a little one can easily get through. I was pretty surprised there was no plexi glass because it does seem very dangerous to me. Without a doubt my toddler (2 years old) could get through them if he wanted to. My husband and I always had his hand as it made me very nervous. The sliding glass door also has a double lock (one up high) so we always made sure both were locked.
The refrig and rollaway served their purpose. The room is like a typical Hyatt room. The valet parking was $57 (ouch) but we utilized it because we needed to have in and out privileges which they said the other parking did not have. We also arrived at the peak of lunch rush hour and it was crazy busy. We could barely make it out of the area. At night, it was a different story.
I will also add that we stay at Hyatt so we know that the mini bars have sensors. On the menu for the mini bar there is a note that says there is a $10 charge if you have them remove everything. I thought that was insane considering we have had this done before at other Hyatts and anyone that has little ones knows that this what you have to do sometimes.
This hotel is located near the Embarcadero. When you walk in you can look into up and see each floor since the large courtyard affords the views of the inside the hotel. It's location is good if your planning to see all the sights on the Embarcadero and not far to travel to the major sights in the city.
