My daughters, age 1 and 3, enjoyed the “Spring Break Family Style” package at the Hyatt, where each child received a wrist band that entitled them to several goodies around the hotel. My 3 year old loved the freedom of going into the store and “buying” her own snack. The grounds of the hotel offer several areas for the kids to expend their energy including 1 foot wading pools and grassy common areas; in addition the hotel is conveniently located across the street from the Century City Westfield Mall. Overall, our stay was quite pleasant and I would recommend other families check out the Spring Break package or any other family style packages the Hyatt Regency Century City has to offer. We began our one night stay by valeting our car so we could have the option to leave the property if necessary, valet was $36 with in and out privileges and self park was $28 per trip. Although we liked having the option to leave we found everything we needed that one night was within walking distance. There was no wait at the front desk and we were able to check in quickly and receive our package details and room information. The hotel had a modern twist on Hollywood Regency, and I could tell the hotel had under gone recent interior renovations. The best part of the lobby for me was I never had to wait more than a minute for an elevator. With two young children and many business people around I was happy to slip into an elevator at such a quick pace. The hotel rooms had all the expected amenities, a lovely restroom, well decorative room, and very nice views of downtown LA. A big bonus was a DVD player in the room.Had I known I would have brought a couple DVDs along for the early morning and evening down time. The housekeeping staff had delivered a crib prior to our arrival which was complete with extra towels and a little rubber ducky for our daughter. The one thing missing was space in the fridge. I checked online and if you want an empty fridge it is possible to have one delivered for a nightly rate. There was one empty space where we kept our daughter’s bottle for any late night needs. The room was kid friendly except for the large wooden closet doors; we had one accident involving little fingers. A slam proof door latch would help here. Otherwise, the room was spacious and the kids enjoyed it. We headed straight for the pool upon arrival. There was a nice grassy area just before reaching the pool where a couple was walking their small dog. The pool deck had private cabanas and three 1 ft wading pools. The main pool was 4 ft deep and offered large steps on one side of the pool where my children splashed in the water. A Jacuzzi was also available for adults and poolside food and drink service was offered for those lounging beside the pool. My children adored the mini wading pools and I felt comfortable letting them splash and play together in this area. In fact, we were able to extend our check out to 1pm in order to have one last splash before hitting the road. I found it to be an unexpected, yet wonderful, addition to the pool area. That evening we went to the mall to check out what child friendly activities they had available. The mall offered ample food selection including a grocery store. The play area was uniquely fun and it was nearlyimpossible to tear my 3 year old away from it. I feel this adds a huge bonus to the attractiveness to families wanting to stay at the nearby Hyatt. The package we enjoyed was titled “Spring Break Family Style”. Starting at $219/night it included: $20 gas card, 50% off at Happy Hour, Kid’s Wrist band redeemable for items from hamburgers to ice cream, and Kid’s discounted breakfast buffet. It was in the explanation of the package online and in person that we had our only issue with our stay. Online the verbiage of the package lead me to believe the breakfast was included for the adults, so when I checked in and the gentleman at the front desk mentioned we had a $30 credit for food and beverage I assumed that was for the breakfast buffet. When we headed down to breakfast we were seated and a host took our drink order and we were left to our own devices. As I was still unclear on the package details and noticed breakfast was a little more than I had anticipated at $30pp, I asked a host at the desk if it was included in our package, he stated it was included in all packages. Therefore, I returned to the table and told my husband to start on the buffet. Unfortunately, when I was checking out of the hotel I found it was not included and we in fact did not have a $30 credit on our account, I explained my misunderstanding to the lady at the front desk but she then reviewed the package with me. So, be certain of what is included in any package you purchase regardless of where you stay. At this particular hotel I would recommend eating breakfast offsite as the price is a little high in relation to the food selections. Regardless of my misunderstanding we had a wonderful time at this Hyatt Regency; I look forward to returning with my family in the future. I will definitely be on the lookout for future Family Style packages and recommend that other families do the same. “This review is based on a complimentary stay at Hyatt Regency Century Plaza.
