Thank goodness for all-suite hotels. They give my family space to stretch out and my husband and I a place to relax in after the kids go to bed. Hyatt Regency Suites Palm Springs offers all of this with a downtown Palm Springs location that is tough to beat! The first thing I noticed about this hotel is its address. Few hotels are lucky enough to be on Palm Canyon Drive and this ideal location puts Hyatt Regency Suites right in the middle of all the downtown Palm Springs action. I loved that my family was able to just head up the pedestrian friendly main drag, enjoy a little people watching, and grab dinner every night without having to pile into our minivan. Upon entering the hotel, I couldn’t help but notice that it had a distinct Embassy Suites feel to it. There is a large atrium with a restaurant on the bottom floor which served as the focal point of the building. All the of the hotel room doors opened out towards the center atrium. The rooms themselves are quite spacious, with a door (a MUST for parents trying to enjoy some adult time after the kids go to bed) separating the living area from the bedroom. The room had a fridge, which came in handy to keep drinks cool and leftovers from spoiling. Our room had a balcony (all rooms have balcony or patios) with a view of the pool, a neighboring golf course, and Mt San Jacinto looming massively overhead. Rooms on the ground floor near the pool are known as Cabana Suites and have their own private cabana patios which are located mere steps from the pool. If your family is looking to spend lots of time poolside and you have young children who need to nap in the room, these rooms may be ideal. Of course no family can head to Palm Springs without spending time poolside and the pool at the Hyatt Suites offers a nice escape from the desert heat. In an era of massive resorts with waterpark-like pools, this property keeps things simply with a traditional rectangular pool. Cabanas are available for privacy and shade, and waiters are always on hand to bring drinks while you lounge by the pool. Lavish circular bed/loungers are comfortable and serve as the perfect spot to Throw in a daily happy hour with discounted drinks and complimentary snacks and what more do you need? Bottomline: Combining suite-sized rooms with the Hyatt brand and the convenient downtown location makes this hotel a family friendly no brainer. Disclosure: My family stayed at the Hyatt Regency Suites Palm Springs as part of a press trip hosted by the Palm Springs Visitors Center. They did not ask that any specific opinions be expressed and all of my reviews will always reflect my honest opinion of the property. Disclosure
