Homewood Suites Dallas/Park Central

"Nicely renovated hotel. Industrial location"

We recently stayed at the Homewood Suites in Dallas (Park Central) on a Monday night in October. The hotel just went through a multi-million dollar renovation which made it extra nice to stay in.

Facilities - Thumbs Up!
- The hotel is newly renovated so the carpets were fresh and clean, the bathrooms were mold/mildew free and the lobby area was quite inviting with a cookie jar filled with chocolate chip cookies welcoming you each time you came back to the hotel. Homewood is an all-suites hotel, so all rooms are  one-bedroom and two-bedroom suites with a pull-out queen sofabeds in the living room area. The bathrooms are connected to the bedrooms, so unfortunately, you have to go through a bedroom to get to a bathroom.

Loved the fully equipped kitchenette. This isn't just a microwave, mini-fridge kitchenette. Homewood provided a microwave, 2-burner stove, a full-size fridge, utensils, pots, pans and dishware. But wait, they didn't stop there. They even installed a dishwasher too. Perfect for the lazy chef like me who hates to clean up. Two grills out back for when you want to put dad to work for cooking a meal or two.

The hotel also had a heated pool which was the perfect post-nap activity for my 2 year old since we were there on a cold and rainy day. The pool is indoor, so great for protecting kids from the sun, but tough if you're working on a tan. Small video arcade area for older kids too.

Value - Thumbs Up!
Homewood Dallas/Park Central is good value for your money. A standard room in Dallas will run you about $99/night. A one bedroom at Homewood is about $89-139/night and two bedrooms are about $139-179. You basically get two rooms for the price of one plus breakfast and its newly renovated! Kids under 18 stay free too.

Amenities/Services - Thumbs Up
- Free hot buffet breakfast. Eggs, bacon, waffles and more. Had trouble with the waffle-maker, but the bacon was thick and juicy.

- Free dinner too! Homewood Suites provides dinner Monday through Thursday nights, so that was quite the treat. They were serving brisket our night which was ok, but nothing to write home about. If your family's not picky and looking to save money, this is quite a bonus.

- Baby stuff available - Cribs, highchairs, booster seats can all be brought up to your room. Staff was quite efficient in getting it all set-up for us.

- Complimentary same-day grocery shopping which was quite nice. The grocery store is right down the street, but nice if you don't have the time or are traveling alone with the kids. You can call ahead and have stuff arranged to be available upon arrival too.

Location - Neutral
The hotel's location is great for getting to all the hotspots in Dallas. Easy access to multiple highways, grocery stores and Walmart plus free parking. However, its next to the highway as well as a gas station. Besides the tennis courts, there's no other playspace for kids to cruise. Not a big deal for us since we were always on the go.

Bottomline: The hotel was wonderful to stay at and the location is convenient to all the major Dallas attractions because it's situated right next to the highway. However, it's situated right next to the highway, so it makes for a more industrial environment. Since the lack of outdoor running space is not a dealbreaker for us especially with the indoor pool, we would definitely stay here again.
