"Home Away from Home"

The Holiday Inn Club Vacations at Orange Lake Resort was the perfect spot for us to call home while we stayed and played in Orlando. This resort is made up of four villages that cover more than 1,450 acres. We stayed in a two bedroom villa in River Island. It had a king-sized bedroom, a room with two doubles, plus there was a pullout couch in the living room.  This spacious unit could easily accommodate one large family or two families of four.

Now, normally I don’t like to do laundry on vacation, however the weather wasn’t as warm as we would have hoped for at the beginning of our trip.  Needing to wash our only pairs of jeans, I was able to make good use of the full sized washer and dryer in our villa. And as much as I don’t love to cook while on vacation either, we liked having a kitchen. I was able to conveniently pick up breakfast and snack items at the Publix Grocery store right at the entrance to the hotel complex. Plus there are little markets within the property, like The Marketplace in the River Island complex that have fruit, cut up carrots and even hard boiled eggs if you are looking for some healthy snacks while playing at the pool.

Not wanting to make dinner after long days out and about, we tried out the River Island Grilling Company. Dinner was a mix of chop house choices, flatbreads and sushi.  A surprising nice touch at the end of the meal were the $2 small dessert choices — just right for kids!

There are seven pools at the Orange Lake Resort.  If you want to tube in the Lazy River you will need to purchase a ‘Play Pass’ (1, 3 or 7 day).  This will get you unlimited access to mini golf, tube rental and the fun zone located within River Island.   Just right for little ones, this pool also has zero-entry pools and an interactive fountain that “dances” along with your child.   If you head over to the Splash Lagoon pool in the North Village you will find that the slide is smaller and less steep. This is good for younger kids.

Another great feature at this resort is that Kids golf free every day at the Par-3 Legends Walk course. This includes rental clubs, balls and tees (with a paying adult).  My husband took advantage of that and spent a morning playing 9 holes with the kids. They were finished in less than 1 1/2 hours. It was the perfect way to start the day before we went to the pool.

After long days of “making memories” together at the theme parks, it was great to be able to come home to a full sized villa rather a single hotel room and have some “space” from each other.  I would highly recommend going this route if you are planning a trip to the happiest place on earth anytime soon.

"Love Orange Lake"

this place is one of the best vacation spots with all the amenities, cook there or go out to eat on the premises or all sorts of restaurants nearby.  So very close to all the parks - Seaworld, Disney, Universal but would never know it, nice and quiet.  You dont even have to leave the resort - they offer everything there and River Island is Great for everyone, the whole family.  Love, Love, Love this place.  miss giong!!

"Amenities of a hotel and condo all rolled into one!"

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Club Vacations at Orange Lake Resort in a two bedroom two bath villa. Unlike the previous review, we booked ours on the Orange Lake Resort. You can purchase nightly rates that way. We got an amazing rate for our theme park adventure weekend.

There are lots of great pool areas but if you are going to be there with children, I recommend staying at River Island. There are pools, slides, and a lazy river that for an extra cost (daily or multiple day passes for tube rentals, mini golf, etc are available for purchase) you can get an inner tube and float around all day long.

The rooms are great for a family vacationing together. Our 2/2 villa had a full kitchen, a dining area and a living room. The wireless worked and was free which is a huge plus for me. The Orange Lake Resort is located right next to the Animal Kingdom Lodge so it is in close proximity to all the different theme parks. There is a shuttle service (for a fee) but we just drove to the parks, paid the parking and had the convenience of use of our car when we needed it.

The property has many different restaurants on site that vary in prices and style. You can also have food (pizza, etc) delivered to your room if you would like.

Everyone was very helpful and accomodating, our room was clean and spacious and the pools were beautiful and well-maintained.  We will definitely return to the Holiday Inn Club Vacations at Orange Lake on our next Orlando trip!

"Great Budget Way to see Disney"

Okay, you parents, listen up!  I got a great tip from my sister - she and her family just returned from visiting the Disney parks in Orlando.  They rented a timeshare (through http://www.redweek.com) at the Holiday Inn Club Vacations at Orange Lake Resort in Kissimmee.  That's just south of Orlando.  Their timeshare unit was super inexpensive - the cheap rate they got on redweek is unbelievable!  The resort had a shuttle service (for a fee but so convenient) to al of the Disney parks.  The resort itself is on 23 acres on the shores of Orange Lake, and had so many things to do there that my sister said they took a couple of days just to stay at the resort.  And the best thing - at night they could see the Disney fireworks from their timeshare!  We got so excited about this that we've booked a timeshare rental for February - can't wait!
