"Cheap Denver Lodging"

If you want cheap lodging in the Denver area, stay in Stapleton.  Denver International Airport (aka “Kansas airport” since it is so far east) replaced Stapleton International Airport in 1995.  Also, what is with those strange ice cream cone looking things at DIA?

I booked this 3 star Holiday Inn for $46 through Expedia unpublished rates.  I needed a quick one night stay in Denver, close to the interstate for a road trip to Kansas.  This was a great deal, but I wanted to report that this hotel isn’t really too kid friendly.  First, this neighborhood is a little scary.  We heard police car sirens late at night and early morning during or stay.  Second, there was a loud party going on in one of the conference rooms.  We didn’t hear the music in our room but we did hear loud music in the lobby with plenty of partying folks lounging around.  Finally, this hotel is arranged like an Embassy Suites with a central lobby and rooms all around.  The railing along the rooms seemed short, making me nervous that one of my kiddos would fall over the edge – okay call me cautious!

Now the good about this hotel.  First, location is great for road trip travelers whether you are driving I-70 or I-25.  Second, Sleep Number Beds (great comfort) and cribs are provided free of charge (I did have to request a crib three times before staff responded).  Finally, seriously cheap due to the airport issue.
