We loved our spacious room and the hotel’s central Yuma location. Likes: -large family suites -one story -refrigerator and microwave in room -2 pools and a hot tub Dislikes: -soap dispensers for shampoo, lotion, etc. ROOMS Our king suite had plenty of room for our large family to relax and sleep. The main area had a king bed and a sofa bed, as well as a 50” TV, dresser, desk, mini-fridge, and microwave. When the sofa was not in bed form, there was plenty of room for the kids to play. The sofa bedding is already on the bed when you fold it out. Our bedding looked a little stained so we called the front desk and they quickly switched it out for us. There was a separate room in the suite with a queen bed, a dresser, and a smaller TV. The extra bedroom didn’t have much space but it was great to have a place to put the little kids to bed earlier than we wanted to sleep. Our baby slept in a small wooden crib provided by the hotel. The crib fit nicely into one of the closets so she had her own room. Since most of the buildings are single story and open to the outside, the rooms are easily accessible from the parking lot. AMENITIES AND FACILITIES There are two outdoor pools here. The one by the front office is heated in the winter months, but was not yet heated in November when we visited. Luckily, they had an above ground hot tub set just below 100 degrees where the kids spent most of their swimming time. I didn't love the location of the pools which can be easily seen from the road. I prefer pools that are hidden to the public. Each room had a DVD player and the lobby has movies you can check out for free. There are multiple guest laundry facilities, a workout room, two business centers, and free WIFI. The internet reception worked at a great speed while I was there. The one things that was annoying was the lack of toiletry bottles. The hand soap, shampoo, etc, are in dispensers mounted on the bathroom wall. They only squirt a very small amount of soap at a time so you have to press them a lot. My husband is a bather and he disliked that he had to stand up to get the shampoo and body wash. He also doesn’t like to use conditioner and the hotel provides a shampoo/conditioner combo. If we stay here again we will make sure to bring our own toiletries. FOOD OPTIONS The hotel offers free breakfast at the Yuma Landing restaurant across the street (see my review of Yuma Landing under the restaurants section). There is a special hotel guest breakfast menu giving you two breakfast options; eggs, toast, meat (bacon, sausage, chorizo), and hash browns OR cereal (corn flakes, frosted flakes, raisin bran, or oatmeal). Sitting in a restaurant was a nice way to enjoy a free hotel breakfast. I liked not having to try to balance 5 plates of kid food as I dished up from a buffet. There are many other restaurants within walking distance that are great for lunch and dinner. The hotel also has beverage and snack machines around the property. LOCATION This is within walking distance to Main Street, but far enough away that you won’t be bothered by night life. It is also very close to the Colorado River and the beautiful parks and walkways that border it. Coronado Motor Hotel is a great central location for a Yuma visit. VALUE At $110 a night, I think the executive suite is a great value for a large family like mine. There is no extra charge for children or additional adults. Free breakfast is included for all the room occupants. The hotel provided the crib for free. Bottomline: I would recommend this hotel to a family staying in Yuma. I think it is especially great for a larger family like mine. Disclosure: This review is based on a complimentary stay at the Historic Coronado Motor Hotel but the opinions expressed are entirely my own.
