"Red Rocks, Luxury, and Rugged Beauty "

Wake up to the sun rising over the Red Rocks outside your window.!  I loved doing that at the Hilton Sedona Resort & Spa!

You know you are somewhere special the minute you pull up in the driveway at this resort.  The place is casual and welcoming yet glamorous enough that you could run into a celebrity during your stay.  There were lots of families on the property while we were there --- in fact, we befriended a few of them!

OUR ROOM
The room we stayed in was a perfect set up for a family!  A two-room configuration with a sitting room that included a kitchenette (microwave, sink, fridge).  The couch was a fold out.   The bedroom had two queen beds in it.  It was great for our family of four but it could also sleep 5 to 6 as well.

It had a terrace overlooking the parking lot but, more noticeably  Sedona's red rocks.  It was stunning sight!

OTHER RESORT AMENITIES
- A full service restaurant that serves a nice breakfast in the morning.  Hilton Honors members aren't given vouchers here rather, they are given a credit covering two cold buffets instead.   We found it to be enough for my husband and me.  Paying the kids' price for the buffets was reasonable.

- The pool is amazing!  Two tiered, with a waterfall into the lower pool, it is an attractive area to hang out.  There's even a kiddie pool with playful areas to get cool in the sprinklers.  There's an adjacent hot tub and at night,  we found an inviting fire pit all lit up and ready for guests to sit around it.

- There's also a Quiet Pool, my family didn't spend a lot of time there.  We don't have a Quiet Setting.

One Last Note:   The hotel is located about 15 minutes from town.  Things tend to close up early in these parts.  Plan dinner accordingly.

Disclosure: Kristine’s stay at the Hilton Sedona was sponsored by Hilton Mom Voyage, a site about families and their travels. Hilton Worldwide conducted a nationwide search for moms and dads, including Trekaroo’s Kristine Dworkin, to contribute their personal family travel experiences. "Red rock views and creature comforts"

Recently my family spent a few days exploring Sedona's famous red rock landscape and we were lucky enough to call the Hilton our home base. The hotel is located in Oak Creek village, just down the road from the famous Bell Rock vortex and Courthouse rock formation.  I am unsure of just how many "wow"s escaped my lips as I gazed at the surrounding red rock vistas surrounded the resort.

Our one-bedroom suite was on the first floor of the hotel and featured a small fridge, microwave, large wet bar, dining table that seats four, living area with pull-out couch (aka: the kids' bed), fireplace, patio, and bedroom with a king bed. The suite gave our family of four a  nice amount of space to spread out. The decor was quite lovely and complimented our Southwestern surroundings. The resorts high-speed internet is complimentary.

There are two pools on the property that are heated to an ideal 82 degrees. The family pool was being renovated during our stay so the adult pool was open to everyone. The Grille at Shadowrock is the on site restaurant serving  breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as preparing room-service meals. The restaurant features indoor dining as well as outdoor dining on the inviting patio. My family never ate at the restaurant, but I did envy those casually enjoying a cocktail and appetizers on the patio by the fireplace whenever we passed by. The outdoor dining is pet-friendly as is the hotel itself. There is also a  gorgeous golf course located on site but my family brought our hiking shoes instead of our golf clubs. I wish I had the chance to enjoy the on-site spa as well. I can only imagine what a massage in red rock country must be like.

The only negative I could really find is that the hotel is located about 15-20 minutes from the heart of downtown Sedona where most of the dining and shopping is located. My family had a car and the drive was simply gorgeous so we didn't mind the distance. In some ways I appreciated being a bit further out because we didn't come to Sedona to be in the midst of the hustle and bustle, we came to hike andenjoy the destination's natural beauty. But, if you prefer a more central location in town, this may not be the hotel for you.

Tip: Be aware that the hotel does charge an $18 per day resort fee.

Bottom line: I really enjoyed this hotel. The one bedroom suite was perfect for my family of four and the hotels aesthetics added to my red rock experience. I would definitely recommend it to families visiting the area.

Disclosure: I receiveda complimentary stay at the Hilton Sedona in order to write an unbiased review of this property. I appreciated the Red Rock hospitality but all opinions are my own.
