"Perfect for families"
We live in the DC area and when my family comes to stay, I always recommend Hawthorn Suites Alexandria. The rooms are spacious and clean but best of all each suite also has a full kitchen that is well stocked with all the basic thing you might need to prepare a simple meal - great for saving money. The rooms have also received a recent face lift and look great. Each room had a big screen TV - a big hit with my teenage newphews. The beds are super comfortable. The staff is very friendly. Breakfast was simple but fresh and hot. Dinners are served in the evenings at no extra cost. What a deal.
We loved the free shuttle that takes you to the nearest metro station because we didn't have to drive in to see the sights at all.
All in all, the price is right. And for all you get at this hotel - it's a great value.

"Nice hotel"
We got this hotel for an unbelievable deal considering the usual prices in the D.C. area. We paid only $70 a night for a suite with a full kitchenette and the hotel had FREE PARKING. The hotel shuttled you to the nearest metro stop, or you could drive into D.C. with no problem and park in one of the parking garages. The bed was divine, the bathroom a little bit small, it had a great HD tv, an outdoor pool, excellent breakfast included in the price, free beer, wine, and snacks M-F. There was a lifeguard always on duty at the pool, which was nice, so children 12 and up could swim without parents. A few miles away was downtown Alexandria and Old Town Alexandria which is a family's delight! Any kind of food you could want, historical tours, ghost tours, wharf, street shows, ice cream shops, toy stores, etc.

Located in the business district, this family friendly Alexandria
hotel is close to Landmark Mall. Another nearby attraction is Green
Spring Gardens Park.
Features.
Recreational amenities include a fitness facility. This 3.0 star
property has a business center. High speed Internet access is
available in public areas. The property serves a complimentary
breakfast each morning and hosts a complimentary manager reception.
Guest parking is complimentary. Additional property amenities
include laundry facilities. This is a smoke free property. A total
renovation of this property was completed in January 2008.

At the 3.0 star property, accommodations include kitchens with
microwaves, refrigerators, coffee/tea makers, and
cookware/dishes/utensils. Bathrooms feature hair dryers. Guestrooms
offer free local calls and voice mail. 42 inch LCD televisions have
premium cable channels, DVD players, and pay movies. Air
conditioned rooms also include separate sitting areas, blackout
drapes/curtains, welcome amenities, and electronic/magnetic keys.
Housekeeping is offered and guests may request wake up calls.
Rollaway beds are available on request. Guestroom renovations were
completed in January 2008. Guestrooms are all non smoking.
