Moab’s Hampton Inn is one of the newest hotels along highway 191 and is a good option for families visiting the area.
My family stayed in a standard room with 2 queen beds over New Years and we were pleased with the accommodations. The room was very clean, but a little small for a family of five. I thought it might be helpful to list the pro/cons, per my opinion of staying at Moab’s Hampton Inn for future travelling families:
The pros:
• Clean rooms with nice bathrooms
• Great off-season discounts. Our off-season rate was lower than any older, lower star-quality hotel in the area.
• Great cancellation policy; ability to cancel before 4pm with no penalty.
• Staff – Very friendly at check-in.
• Decent breakfast with hot choices (waffles, eggs, sausage) and healthy choices (yogurt, fresh fruit, cereals). Staff was quick to refill items and keep dining area clean.
• Good towels – thick enough to actually dry yourself off after a shower.
• Elevators – perfect for a 3-year old button-pushing fanatic.
The cons:
• Small standard room – we’re a family of 5 and we’ll definitely opt for a larger room next time. It was a bit crowded with our luggage and travel toddler bed.
• Outdoor pool and hot tub are closed in the off-season.
• Parking – Hotel is shoe-horned in to a small space and the parking is tight.
• No microwave or fridge in our standard room.
• This place seems to be a “tour-bus” traveler favorite and may be crowded during peak season.
• Hotel is located at the north end of town, apart from most of the shopping and restaurants. If you’re travelling without a car, this may be an issue for you.
• You’re in Moab, you may want to consider lodging options with more character.
I would recommend the Hampton Inn for lodging in Moab. However, if you have a large family, you may want to consider booking a suite or a couple of rooms. Moab’s Hampton Inn is a good value (especially in the off-season), it’s clean and comfortable.
