We stayed here with gma and gpa (in a separate room of course.) We had our kids 4.5 years old and 11mo with us. We were a little worried because it was such a nice resort and we had KIDS! Hawaiians respect the keiki (children) and really cater to them though. The luxurious beds were fantastic and the rooms were huge. We put the crib in the closet (which was almost walk-in-closet size). One thing that was a huge plus was that you can rent a mini-fridge for $25 for the week for your room. That made breakfast way easier for the kids! We had a room on the main floor, where the kids could play outside on the grass to get wiggles out while I sat on the lanai (patio). We rented a jogging stroller (and car seats) and just left the stroller out on the patio which was really convenient. I can't say enough about the pools and slides. Awesome! Also, if you want to just lounge on the beach they'll just bring as many chairs/umbrellas as you want. We had a few so the kids could play in the sand and not get burned. There was also this taco truck that gma and gpa go to all the time that was fabulous. You just turn right out of the resort and it's a few miles up the road in the middle of nowhere on the side of the road. Kid-friendly quesadillas and delicious fish tacos for cheaper than resort food. The resort food was excellent but of course pricey, especially when kids don't eat half of it. Kid-friendly all around though. We will be returning. Gma and Gpa have a membership that we use and get a discount through. Thought about getting one ourselves we loved it so much!
Man do I luuurve this place. We've had the good fortune to stay here 3 times with our 2 toddlers and I would love to go back. It's like an amusement park hotel, with fabulous water slides for kids to fly down. This place is up my alley, luxurious but unpretentious, it welcomes families. It's not for everyone, particularly those wanting a more authentic Hawaiian experience (some friends of mine hated it, how could they?) but if you want a hotel you can chill at for a lot of your vacation and have some money you can spend, this is it. You can save a few $ on food and eat at the nearby shopping mall, or get an inclusive buffet breakfast package which turns out to be a good deal.
A totally deluxe experience from the moment you walk into the gorgeous grounds. Expensive but worth it. Everything is luxury, and the artwork is amazing. Great buffet breakfast. Walk out towards the red sand beach and enjoy the waterslides and view. We also enjoyed walking next door to the Four Seasons for meals.
