Wow. Wow. And wow.
Last summer I won a "Staycation" at The Four Seasons Hotel in Philadelphia from Moms Like Me Philadelphia. I was super excited for the trip, and we decided to use it on our anniversary weekend.
While I always love saving a buck (or two or five), I truly believe that it is important to splurge once in awhile- we certainly deserve it, and hey- it's fun! So imagine having the chance to live, literally, like a celebrity for a weekend at one of the city's poshest establishments. Our room had a king bed with a view of Logan Circle/fountain. We also received valet parking and $40 worth of in-room or in-restaurant breakfast credit both days. The price tag? $468/night. $(*%&)#($*!!!! (We would typically spend that much for a 7 night stay somewhere. LOL)
We checked the car with the valet and got our room key without a problem. Lily Bean was allowed to choose a toy from a radio flyer wagon overflowing with toys. When we entered our room on Friday night, we found that housekeeping had childproofed our room- and left a yummy anniversary dessert surprise. Nice touch!
While Biker Bob headed down to ask the Concierge for some dinner delivery suggestions (the $22 burger on the room service menu just wasn't tempting to me), I started to unpack some of our luggage. (We ended up ordering some tasty Philly Cheesesteaks!)
The next morning, we ordered some scrumptious breakfast from room service. Needless to say, we went a tad over our $40 credit. Seeing how a plate of muffins was around $16, plus tax, plus a service charge, I'm not really sure how they deemed that $40 was sufficient credit for a bed and breakfast package, but oh well. Multiply this bill times 2 because we ordered the same thing the next morning- not realizing that we only had a certain amount of credit!
Saturday was pouring, torrential, driving, windy rain ALL DAY. The only options were to find things indoors to do... which was a bummer because if you've never been here, Philadelphia is a seriously cool place to walk around and explore.
We spent the day checking out some indoor options- the Academy of Natural Sciences and the Museum of Anthropology and Archaeology at UPenn.
We returned to the Four Seasons for a swim in the indoor pool and then enjoyed watching the dreery sites from our beautiful window.
The Four Seasons was beautiful. The amenities, service, and overall experience were all first class.
Would I splurge on a stay like this in the future? Maybe. It might be fun to spend a weekend at a luxury class hotel every so often. But I would be lying if I said that my head wasn't madly calculating things all weekend... from the room service food to the way overpriced single packet of Advil that Biker Bob fetched for me at the front desk $1.50-- lol- with a coupon I could have bought a bottle or two of Advil for that price!
Philadelphia is such a great city- whether you're visiting from afar or having a local staycation, there is something for everyone. Great food, entertainment, and sites to see!
My husband had a conference here, so my two year old and I tagged along for some Philly fun. We were booked in a standard room, but were still treated like royalty. My daughter's eyes just popped out of her head when they rolled out the Radio Flyer wagon during check-in filled with fun toys. Rooms are immaculate and the decor tasteful although a bit on the conservation side. If you're looking for uber-hip, this is probably not the place.
The location of the Four Seasons is sweet! While Daddy was busy with meetings, we were able to just stroll outside over to the Franklin or the Museum of Natural Science. Talk about convenient! The Please Touch Museum which was the highlight of the trip was just a quick 5-10 minute drive from the hotel.
The Fountain restaurant is a great place if you're looking for fine dining that's family-friendly. The food was excellent and the service was impeccable to all the antics of a two year old who likes to sit still for limited amounts of time.
The indoor swimming pool was a nice break after naptime when all the interesting museums in town are about to close and dinner is still faraway.
As previously mentioned, beware of the $40+ a night charge for parking. I guess that's what you get for being downtown.
From the moment you arrive, the Four Seasons will welcome the youngest member of the family to the hotel. If you're looking for a 5-star luxury stay, look no further because the Four Seasons has it all for families.
The Four Seasons is like a visit to Grandmas
Be ready for your kids to be spoiled. Like grandma, they know how to win your kid's heart right from the start. From a kiddie gift during check-in (great for distracting junior while waiting to get room keys) to the "Welcome to Philadelphia" gifts in the room, your child will happily enjoy all that the Four Seasons has for them.
Our welcome basket was filled with Philadelphia treats, a 24-piece floor puzzle featuring Philadelphia's top landmarks, bath toys that spelled his name, a cuddly Mary Meyer bear, and kid-sized bathrobe and slippers. They KNOW kids. Like grandma, the hotel had everything perfectly selected for the age of my son.
Leave your baby gear behind because it's all here. They had diapers, bibs, blankets, baby bathwash, and even a diaper pail! You could request a bottle warmer. The furniture was baby-friendly with no sharp corners for cruising babies. We had a direct view down into Logan Circle down Ben Franklin Parkway to the Museum of Art. Stunning. My son loved watching all the car, taxis, buses go around the fountain day and night.
Sleep and stay like kings
All the bed linens are crisp and clean and the room was immaculate. The suite was sizable, but when the pull-out sofa was extended at night, it was a tight squeeze. I would recommend booking two adjoining standard rooms versus a suite if you have more than one child to give yourselves more space.
Fabulous location
Situated in Logan Square, the hotel is directly across from the Franklin, the Natural Science Museum and quick access to the Museum of Art and many other top tourist spots for families. You can easily walk to restaurants and shops when needed. All the historical sites are just a quick bus/taxi ride away.
Other services and amenities
The hotel has an indoor heated pool which makes it accessible regardless of the weather. Homemade cookies and milk at turn-down were also a welcome treat after a long day of sight-seeing. If you'd prefer your kids to be sweet free, don't worry. The front desk will ask what your preference is during check-in.
The hotel has a variety of dining options to choose from. We ordered breakfast in bed during our stay which was gourmet and the portions were gigantic.
If you would like a night-out on the town with your dear, the concierge can arrange a babysitter for you as well. Just call in advance and they can help you get set-up.
Rates
The Four Seasons Philadelphia will deliver a visit that your family will treasure. You won't get this royal treatment anywhere else in the city. Rates for a standard rooms start at $390/night and suites start at $650/night.
BOTTOMLINE: An uber kid-friendly place to stay that's an ideal location.

This review is based on a complimentary Family Values Summer Package. No other compensation besides the hotel stay and the hotel did not express any requirements that I express a particular point of view.
The kids enjoyed getting fresh lemonade when walking into the hotel after our adventures and then finding milk and a chocolate chip cookie waiting for them in the evening. We had great service and everyone was friendly with our children. The pool was being refurbished when we were there, so we had to go to another hotel if we wanted to use the pool. I believe the pool work has been finished, so it won't be a problem now. We ate the hotel restaurant once for lunch and everyone enjoyed their meal. There are lots of great restaurants around if you are willing to explore. If you are going to visit the Franklin, Academy of Natural Sciences, Rodin Museum or Philadelphia Museum of Art, this is a great location. All of these are within walking distance. If you are going to the historic attractions, you can take a short taxi or bus ride. Getting around Philadelphia was very easy for our family.
