"Heaven for kids and adults"

There is so much to say that I'm not sure where to start. First, I should mention that I do write for the Four Seasons Hotel Have Family Will Travel blog and the stay that I'm referencing was complimentary.

But seriously, it was amazing. I talked to other parents at the hotel who said the same thing. The style of the hotel is different than the other Four Seasons Hotels I've stayed at. It is Santa Barbara style with colorful Spanish tiles all over the place. Our bathroom had radiant heat under these gorgeous tiles even. The grounds were a mix of tropical and California native plants with not a single bare spot. Just stunning.

They have a kids club. We peeked in and though the room isn't huge, they were painting and doing crafts. Then on another occasion they were out playing croquet on one of the lawns. It looked like a great place for kids. We were on a mother/daughter stay and my parents live in Santa Barbara so we just didn't use the service. Normally, we do.

The beach is right across the street. You  have access to the private club across the street, which has the largest hotel pool in the US in it. That pool is mainly for laps, but there's a kiddie pool too. The view is spectacular. Nearer to the hotel rooms, there's another pool. Staff says that kids like this one better, but it's a tough call as they are both great. The pool near the hotel rooms has an old school drinks cart for adults and someone passing around sugar free popsicles for the kids!

We went to the spa and had mother/daughter nail treatments in a private room. The therapists were really great with my shy 4 year old and the lounge area had snacks and also a spectacular view.

The kids meals on site were pretty reasonably priced, actually. Do try the desserts. The apple pie in the lounge is to die for as is the It's It ice cream sandwich at the Coral Casino. We ate in all of the restaurants except for one and were pleased with every meal.

Also worth mentioning, in case you don't know, is that the guy who created Beanie Babies owns the hotel. They are everywhere and each child does get one to take home during their stay.

This is just a great hotel. I'm trying to think of a negative. It is expensive, but in line for the area.

"The Ultimate Family Friendly Stay"

I will be honest, before staying at the Four Seasons Biltmore in Santa Barbara with my children, I thought hotels of this caliber were best reserved for adult only romantic getaways.  I couldn’t have been more wrong.  I have yet to find another resort that goes out of its way more to make families feel welcome and children feel like VIPS.

When we checked in, we were taken aback by the sheer beauty of the grounds. It felt like we were walking through botanical gardens instead of hotel corridors.  The history of the resort seemed to come alive in its grand Moreton Bay fig tree and exotic flora.  The lobby and guest rooms have an opulent yet historic feel with 1927 Mediterranean architecture, lovely tile accents, and touches of luxury everywhere.

Upon check in, the children were greeted and allowed to choose a stuffed animal from the hotel’s collection.  Immediately, the kids were sold on the place!  When we entered our room, we were all delighted to find a tent had been set up for the kids to play in and special kid’s toiletries in the bathroom.  Their names were spelled out in tiny sponges and little children’s robes were hung on the door. It was absolutely adorable.  Best of all, these amenities were complimentary and extended to all of the hotel’s younger guests.

Along with the little touches I mentioned above, guests can also use, upon request, items to childproof guest rooms, cribs or rollaway beds, and complimentary use of toys and baby equipment.  This means you can pack less and enjoy your stay more.  The resort also offers special children’s room service menus with selections for small children and older kids.

In addition to the many complimentary in-room amenities, there are many included family friendly activities on-site.  My son could have spent the rest of his days happily putting on the putting green or whacking away on the croquet lawn.  All the equipment is available anytime so there is no need to bring your own. Three lighted tennis courts with complimentary balls and racquets are available, and there is even a junior tennis clinic offered on Saturday mornings.  My family especially enjoyed the complimentary bicycles which were perfect for cruising along the beach, around a lagoon, and through the village of Montecito.

One of the true luxuries of our family stay at the Four Seasons was the complimentary kids club on site called Kids For All Seasons.  Open daily from Memorial Day through Labor Day and Saturdays the rest of the year, the Kids For All Seasons is a complimentary service which entertains the kids through fun activities such as swimming, painting, crafts, and games.  It is open to children ages 4-12. My kids enjoyed their time in the program and didn’t seem ready to leave when we came to pick them up.

There is a lovely pool area within the grounds of the Four Seasons with a huge heated pool and two large heated spas of differing temperatures.  There is also a bar and lunch station in the pool area.  Rains had come through town the night we stayed at the resort but we didn’t let it stop us from enjoying the heated water. In addition to the pool on resort grounds, there is the Coral Casino Beach Club located directly across the street and on the beach, which guests have complimentary access to. The Coral Casino has a massive pool which looks out at the ocean, along with a children’s wading pool and spa. 31 private cabanas are available for the ultimate luxury experience.

Bottom line: While the Four Seasons may be more expensive than most resorts, its many complimentary amenities, incredible grounds, and beachfront location makes it an ultimate family destination. If a stay will fit your budget, than definitely opt for the Four Seasons.

Disclosure: The preceding review was based on a complimentary stay at the Four Seasons Santa Barbara for the purpose of reviewing the property and writing a story for Trekaroo. No other compensation was received and the Four Seasons did not ask that I state any particular point of view. As always, my reviews are always honest and unbiased.

"Enjoyed our stay"

We took our then 1 year old son here.  We really enjoyed our stay.  They were very kid friendly.  They provided a nice crib for us in our room and even provided supplies for our son - rubber ducky, baby travel pack, wipes, diaper pail.  They gave us some nice little stuffed animals for him.  They really accomadated us.  We told them that it was his birthday and our anniversary and they left some desserts in our room with a note wishing him a happy birthday.  We took our son to their swimming pool and he loved it.  I would definitely take my family back here for another stay.  Well worth the price.

"Biltmore with a Baby"

We had a wonderful stay at the Four Seasons last June.  We were there for a wedding and stayed in a regular king room.  When we arrived, our room was ready for our 18 month old with a stuffed animal, cheerios, a crib, diapers, and a kid-friendly room service menu.  The hotel is directly across the street from our favorite beach in Santa Barbara, Butterfly Beach.  Its good for swimming and not as crowded as some of the other SB beaches.  Guests of the Four Seasons get access to the Historic Coral Casino Club, also on Butterfly Beach.  Our toddler loved the baby pool there.  For adults, the breakfast brunch at the Four Seasons is not to miss.  Service was great all around, and the rooms were large and comfortable.  Great bathrooms.
