"Luxury & Family Friendly Combined"

This AAA Five Diamond resort offers families an amazing luxury getaway. Whether you are traveling through Phoenix, or considering a destination vacation, my entire family loved our experience at the Princess; here's why you should consider this fabulous resort.

Accommodations at the Fairmont are diverse, yet all luxurious. 648 guest rooms are available in a variety of layouts including standard and deluxe rooms, casitas, and suites. Our family enjoyed a Casita suite, 850 square feet of space to spread out while traveling. All of the rooms, ours included, boast flat screen TVs, Keurig coffee makers for those early mornings, iHome clock radios, balconies, and more.

When I checked into our room, I am pretty sure I made an audible sigh of relief. A city girl at heart, I love a lovely, luxurious bed, shiny pristine bathroom, and beautiful decor more than I like to admit. The accommodations were perfect, and I had to remind myself that I needed to get out and explore the rest of this sprawling resort.

One of the largest resort properties we've visited, The Princess truly has something for everyone. The resort lagoon that hugs the main lobby area features a catch and release fishing area for the outdoor enthusiasts, and a wildlife program helps kids identify the many species of birds, fish, and mammals that call the resort their home. Basketball and sport courts, ping pong tables, badminton courts, a playground, and lit tennis courts give you plenty of opportunities to stay active while on property.

Numerous pools are on property including the Sonoran Splash Pool, the family friendly water recreation area that your kids will absolutely not want to leave. Two 200-foot waterslides (42" minimum), a zero entry deck area for the little ones, and beach sand to play in, coupled with the outdoor food and beverage service, means this is where your family will want to set up camp all day. Consider renting a private cabana as this area does fill up during the summer months when families are in full force at the resort.

If you golf, enjoy TPC Scottsdale, managed by the PGA Tour.

The massive resort can be transversed on foot, but if you need some help, call a complimentary golf cart to pick your family up wherever you are.

Open daily, the Trailblazers Family Adventure Center features a complimentary recreation center for all hotel guests that includes air hockey, foosball, basketball, ping pong, Nintendo Wii, Sony Playstation, shuffleboard, arcade games, and much more. My girls enjoyed visiting with the animal discovery ambassadors including a bearded dragon, snakes, and a tarantula. Families can take a break from the dessert heat in this fun environment, even if you don't plan on dropping kids off for the official "kids club" program. The onsite shop includes everything families need for the day including pool toys, sunscreen, kid's clothes, ice cream, candy, and more. Rent fishing gear or pool rafts from here!

During the summer, the Trailblazer's kids club is included in your resort fee,
for an unlimited number of kids!! I could hardly pull my little ones away from this experience (we enjoyed a quick visit to the spa while they had a blast). Content varies but includes group activities, games, crafts, sports, exploring the resort's wildlife (including feeding Cecil the desert tortoise), and more. My girls happened to visit on Nature Day, where they were given cameras to snap photos while doing a tour of the resort. A disc was provided for each child of the nature photographs they took during their walk exploring the resort's flora and fauna.

Onsite restaurant options abound at the Fairmont. Grab a quick cup of coffee or a snack at the Princess Coffee Shop & Retail Market (serving your favorite Starbucks drinks), or make it a fine dining occasion at Bourbon Steak, offering the finest cuts of beef and a 3000 bottle wine cellar.

We had the pleasure of dining both at La Hacienda, dubbed one of Arizona's finest Mexican restaurants, and Ironwood American Kitchen, which provided excellent meals and a very accommodating to food allergies menu. Reviews of both can be found here:

We dropped the kids off at Trailblazer's Kids Club (included in our resort fee!) and checked out the spa (included in our Fairmont Gold Membership!). Even though we didn't have a treatment scheduled, there was plenty to do, including a beautifully inspiring aerial yoga and pilates class that made me wish I had signed up in advance; although complimentary for spa guests, the classes do fill up quickly. We enjoyed a unique shoulder rub in the outdoor waterfall pool, and splashed and relaxed on the rooftop, adult-only pool. My husband enjoyed the unique variety of workout gear and equipment while I underwent some forced relaxation in the lounge's saunas, eucalyptus inhalation rooms, and hot and cold plunge pools. It was hard work, but someone had to do it!

I heartily recommend that families join the Fairmont Gold Club, which provides access to their Fairmont Gold Lounge. Daily use during your stay provides exceptional convenience for families. You'll enjoy a deluxe continental breakfast (and I really do mean deluxe!!), complimentary coffee, soda, juice, and beverages throughout the day, an honor bar (charged to your room), complimentary hors d'oeuvres served each evening (this provided the perfect snacking time for our post-pool little ones), and complimentary dessert served each evening. The air conditioned lounge area, with large TVs and plenty of comfy seating provided a great respite from the summer heat.

Fairmont Gold members also get complimentary late checkout (up to 3pm!) so kids can enjoy one more day of the pools, complimentary parking, and complimentary access to Well & Being Spa.

Summertime at the Princess is all about families. Dive in Movies, Techno Glo Parties, a zip line, unique Splashrider X-Treme continuous wave attraction, weekend fireworks, and a complimentary Trailblazer's kids club program make this an all inclusive family vacation getaway! The Fairmont Fun Team visits the pool decks each weekend to provide a wide variety of family friendly events including pool dance parties, hula hoop contests, and underwater bingo.

Although my family didn't get the chance to visit during Christmas, I really must share their unique and family-friendly winter offerings. Their Christmas at the Princess Festival is offered from Thanksgiving to New Year's Day and includes a four-story musical tree, Desert Ice skating rink made with real ice, nightly snowfall, outdoor firepits and s'mores roasting, strolling carolers, and Santa's Workshop. Ride the Princess Express Train to see the 1.5 million Lagoon Lights such as swans floating on the water, 14-foot poinsettias, a pirate ship, menorah, dreidels, toy soldiers, a nativity, and more.

Disclosure: My family received complimentary lodging, some meals, and activities for the purpose of this review. We were not required to state any particular view; all opinions are my own.

"Wonderful for Parents and Kids!"

We stayed a weekend here and had the BEST time ever.

They have a separate pool called the Sonoran Splash, which has a shallow wading pool for the young kids, and two waterslides.  Also alongside the pool are a playground and a sandbox complete with trucks, buckets, shovels, and other kiddie amenities.  There are plenty of towels and lounge chairs to spare.

There are two other pools as well.  The main pool was very heated and even with a bit of chill outside we could swim comfortably then hop into the jacuzzi.

For the parents, they have babysitting service and they have an awesome spa.  The best spa I have ever been to.  The spa is complete with it's own pool, sauna, steam room, eucalyptus aromatherapy room, swedish shower, prickly pear lemonade, tea, coffee, cookies, food service, you name it, they have it.  Prices are very expensive but very much worth it!

There are also awesome fitness classes and a fitness center.

The rooms are big with a bar/sink, tons of drawers and a large closet, two sinks, a separate tub & shower & toilet.  The balconies are huge.  They have flat screen TVs.  Their restaurant and take out have a child's menu.  You can order prickly pear margaritas!

Arizona is most busy in the non-summer months, and the rates here can get pretty high during those times.  The price (to me at least) is worth it!  Try to get a deal though, you will feel like a star, we did!

"Rated Family-Friendly by Ciao Bambino"

We love the extensive activities offered at the Fairmont Scottsdale including a children’s program, multiple swimming pools (one with 2 long, curvy slides), a lake where you can fish, golf, and a full spa. Mini-golf, Cracker Jax race cars, and a train park with a carousel are nearby. There are multiple restaurants onsite, in addition to other good options in the area. We opted for the casita room with plenty of space.
