We stayed in the Extended Stay Deluxe Anchorage- Downtown during the summer with 2 kids, 3 adults, and a dog. Hotels in Anchorage aren't cheap, and this one was no exception. We chose it because it was one of the few hotels that offered 1-bedroom suites without charging over $100 for a pet. By the time we paid for the night's stay in a 1 bedroom suite and paid the pet fee of $25 and internet fee of $4.99, our bill was over $230 with a military discount.
What we got was far from special. While our suite was roomy and did have a separate bedroom, living area, and kitchenette, we had several issues. Our room was not ready when we arrived, and it took quite awhile for the cleaning crew to finish it up. The air conditioner would only blow hot air, which we discovered after settling in with all of our luggage. The hotel offered to move us, but it would be up to the third floor. We decided it was too much hassle for just one night, so we opened the windows until we went to sleep. The sleeper sofa was stained, and there was no bedding for it in the room.
The hotel did have a nice-looking small indoor pool that we did not get the chance to use. The laundry area was also a nice feature, but it was not free to use as it sometimes is in other extended-stay hotels. A continental breakfast was available, but the selection was very limited.
Next time we travel in Anchorage with kids and a pet, we will go for the cheaper Days Inn and forgo the suite...it just wasn't worth the expense.
