"Very kid friendly"

I have been to the Estancia for weddings, drinks, the spa and more, but recently stayed overnight for the first time. I was with my husband and 4-year-old daughter.  First, the hotel landscaping is gorgeous. It's this amazing combination of architectural succulents, seasonal flowers and other plants that are meticulously taken care of.  

The room itself was nice, but didn't blow me away for a relatively new-ish hotel. It had nice amenities and a shower/bath combo.  We had some trouble with the drain, but it wasn't enough to call housekeeping about.  The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. I actually appreciated that the mini fridge was empty and that you had to request items to be added.  So you can bring items if you like.  Starbucks coffee is in the room too compliments of the hotel which is huge in my book.

The pool is large and there were tons of kids in it which was nice for my daughter. They are allowed to bring in their own floaties too.  We ordered lunch by the pool.

Speaking of food, the kids menu is fairly inexpensive with meals ranging from $4-7.  I also managed to stay 3 days without feeling that "bleh" feeling of eating too many heavy meals.  You can eat healthfully here and not feel like you're sacrificing taste.

Kids under 5 eat at the El Adobe buffet for free, if you order it.  That's a great value.  We also enjoy the outdoor Mustang & Burros bar, though entrees for adults are pricey.  Overall, I was pleased with our food bills.

The only trouble with the Estancia is that nothing is really walkable and they don't have a convenience store.  You may order some convenience items like aspirin through room service, but it's not an extensive selection.  You'd have to get in your car and drive somewhere to the grocery or drug store.
