"So much fun"

This is a beautiful place and it is so casual. We truly enjoyed all of the pools and the water hole with the slide. It is just one mile from the parks and it offers shuttle service.

The rooms have a charming country look. We loved the food at the Riverside Mill which is a huge food court giving everyone exactly what they want. This is a huge deal when you have picky eaters.

The children loved the water slide. We also rented bikes to play around

At night the mosquitoes are huge in the public areas don't forget to bring protection or wear long sleeves.

"Great Moderate Hotel"

This is a good moderate hotel.  The rooms are spacious and clean.  It is a sprawling hotel and hard to first find your way around.  Don't pay extra for the water view.  We did and got a view of the pool when we thought water view would be off the actual river by the hotel.  Complex is clean and well maintained. They have 2 nice pool areas and one has a nice water slide.  The other is by the laundry mat.  Can go swimming while you wash the clothes.

Has a boat system and bus that can get you around the park.  The buses fill up fast to this hotel.  We rarely were able to sit always stood and at times had to wait for the second bus.

The food is average for the price and being in a cafeteria.  The gift shop sold soda and snacks for much cheaper.

"Really nice place to stay, okay for kids."

Stayed here in 2009 with two toddlers. We were "family of the week" which was a nice surprise, but honestly didn't come with many perks. Family friendly staff, of course, it's Disney. But the resort is a little on the quieter, mellower side. The "French Quarter" counterpart is much more kid-friendly. This place is good too, has a cool fishing pond for a little mellow, Disney time (catch-and-release, let Nemo go!). Two pools, the pool in the middle island is much more exciting but a lot more crowded. Transport by Riverboat for some of the locations, so the kids will enjoy that aspect as well.

"Great for a family of 5"

Our family has stayed at Port Orleans Riverside twice while visiting WDW.  We are a family of 5, so there are limited hotel options- especially on a budget! The rooms aren't that large, especially when you pull out the trundle bed, but who needs a large room when you're not even in it all day?  The hotel is spread out into condo-style little building clusters.  Some of them are far from the main lobby/restaurant, but there are bus stops throughout.  The pool is wonderful for kids with a big water slide and plenty of splashing room.

"Perfect Disney Resort for a family of 5!"

Disney's Port Orleans Riverside Resort is a Disney Moderate Resort in the heart of Walt Disney World.   I stayed here last Christmas with my daughter for a quick getaway.  My favorite parts of the resort was the location, very convenient to Magic Kingdom, the fun and free boat ride that you can take to Downtown Disney where you will find lots of restaurants and shops and the food court is wonderful!  We didn't experience the pool but the waterslide is amazing and looks super fun!  My daughter loved the build your own pasta that the food court offered and you just can't beat the value! I highly recommend this resort especially for families of 5 that are on a budget as this is the only Disney Moderate Resort that can accommodate up to 5 guests with 2 double beds and a pull out trundle bed.

"A+++ for Families and Disney World Adventure"

Our resort room was extremely clean, and was serviced promptly each day.  When coming back to the room after some time at a park, we were welcomed by fun animal shaped towels on our beds!  The noise leve is very low.  And, you're surrounded by pools and playgrounds nestled in the Bayou.  Convenient food court had excellent breakfasts! :)

Also, the bus sytem to and from all of the parks including water parks was a life saver!  Our boys enjoyed hunting and capturing the lil' lizards that run around here.. as well as free-roaming bunnies and ducks! :)

We will return!

"Perfect Hotel Choice for a Family with 3 Young Children"

My husband and I visited Disney World twice before we got married. Once we had children we knew a trip to WDW was a done deal.

Our first trip we stayed off site...big hassle. Distance to parks was lengthy once you factored in parking and transportation to the park itself. Hiring a rental car was a nightmare as the car we were given was a flimsily built tiny 4-door car.

For our second trip we knew we wanted to stay at a Disney resort hotel We didn't realize that many Disney properties do not accomodate families of 5.

We lucked out when we discovered that the Port Orleans Riverside rooms could fit a family with 3 young children. The room was roomy with 2 huge beds. The fifth person slept on the trundle bed.

Now the trundle bed sleeper was supposed to be our youngest -- a 3-year-old -- but he was scared of sleeping on the floor. Our daughters were happily esconced in athe double bed, which left only one candidate for the trundle. Good ole, long-suffering, but handily short, Mom, to sleep on the trundle.

The layout of the Port Orleans Riverside was lush, with tree- and bush-lined pathways leading to the main reception center and restaurant.

We never ate at the restaurant as we had the Disney Dining Plan. We woke up early each morning to take advantage to Fast Passes and early openings. We ate breakfast or brunch once we arrived at the Park.

The bus service between Port Orleans Riverside and the parks was excellent, except for one morning a bus we needed to ride to Disney Studios was late. We never found out why, but did get a bus after about 30 minutes.

A great introduction to what people have always insisted on: "Stay at a Disney property!"

"Port Orleans - French Quarter"

We stayed at the French quarter side - it was very clean, very nice and had a great serve yourself restaurant.  We found it very convenient to the parks. You really felt like you were in New Orleans - the pool was nice too - great slide. We loved it- the rooms were plenty big and extremely clean!

"Port Orleans Riverside"

This is our favorite moderate resort.  The rooms are spacious and loved the view in Alligator Bayou.  Very secluded feel with the convenience of parking right outside the room.  This hotel will fit 5 in a room when the trundle bed is used.  Great for families.

"LOVE this hotel. Definitely going back"

So, we took a trip to Disney with our kids.  I'm a big hotel person, even if I'm only staying for one night (we stayed at this hotel for 6 nights) it must be comfy and CLEAN.  Well, this hotel was clean, the staff is perhaps the friendliest, most accommodating staff ---truly awesome customer service.

We get there and the first thing we notice is the MASSIVE pool.  Really beautiful and perhaps the cleanest grounds I've ever seen at a theme park hotel.

The rooms were beautifully appointed without being tacky.  Definitely within the whole hotel theme.  We had ordered personalized Mickey ears which the hotel arranged to have on each kid's bed upon arrival ---they were so thrilled.

We slept very comfortably and went to bed to initiate our day at Disney the next morning.  We returned to the hotel late in the afternoon after 6 hours at the park.   We took a dip in their pool (the kids loved the water slide) and had dinner at the hotel restaurant, which was delicious (we had grilled chicken and pasta and the kids each had meatloaf and pasta primavera)  Again great service at the restaurant.

I really love this hotel and I would highly recommend it to anyone traveling with children.  It's also very convenient to stay at a Disney Resort ---the shuttle goes back & forth between the Disney Resorts and the park all day long.

"Decent sized room"

We enjoyed our stay here.  We were celebrating a child's birthday and let the front desk know upon arrival and they send an autographed photo birthday card to the child on their birthday.  Wow!  That was sure a hit!  The grounds were well maintained and the kids could run around.  It was too cold to swim when we were there, but the pools looked nice.  The river running through the property was a nice touch.  The food court had some great items for grabbing a quick snack and was convenient.  We had a small refrigerator in our room, so the kids could have cereal and milk in the morning before we got moving.

"Nice but sprawling"

Kids will really enjoy this hotel.  Its got a great theme - old South - and a great pool.  It has a play area, a river running around the outskirts, and lots of bunnies running all over.  In the morning, it is nice and quiet.
The cottonmill - the main building with food court and shop - are nice for families.  They even have chocolate milk on tap for the kids and milkshakes.  The food court is standard, but the food is better quality than most.  Boatwrights, the onsite hotel is very good.
Transportation from the hotel is decent - but allow an hour to get to/from Downtown Disney as the busses tend to be slow from here.  You can also take a boat from the river dock to the Marketplace and walkto Downtown Disney - that is a nice addition.

Description

Located in the Downtown Disney area of the park, this Louisiana "town" will conjure up dreams of floating down the Mississippi River, Mark Twain style. They have merged with Port Orleans French Quarter, so it is now a big hotel.
