The Delta King hotel is rich with history. It served as transportation between Sacramento and San Francisco from 1927-1940 then was used in the war effort to ferry troops across the San Francisco bay.
For all its history (and rooms renovated to fit the time period) there isn't much to this place. The restaurants are nice, the views are good, but the best part about this hotel is its proximity to downtown Sacramento. You are literally a quarter mile from the heart of downtown, and there are lots of things to do for kids of all ages there.
The thing that I found most troublesome about this hotel is that it lists to port side at about ten degrees. It doesn't seem like a lot, but when attempting to walk or sleep, you are forced to adjust to it.
If the uniqueness of the hotel's history is of any interest to you and your family, Id say dining on the boat is recommended. If you or your children are not history buffs I suggest skipping this altogether.
