After a long day of skiing at nearby Liberty Mountain, our family rolled into the Gettysburg Courtyard Marriott to check in for a one night stay. We are no strangers to the Gettysburg area; it is one of our very favorite places to visit. We are familiar with many of the attractions that this town has to offer, so we were able to note the Courtyard Marriott's prime location as we pulled off the highway and parked at the hotel. Easy to find off the highway, the hotel sits at the end of a quiet drive - its only neighbors are another hotel or two, a couple of restaurants and a movie theater. The hotel is a mere stone's throw (several miles if that) from the heart of Gettysburg where you will find places to eat, shop and explore - and let's not forget the huge battlefield to visit!
The lobby of the hotel was beautiful - spacious and very modern. One section is a restaurant area where they offer a paid breakfast buffet each morning. There is a comfy lounge area with couches, complimentary coffee and a cozy fireplace.
Check-in was seamless and took a matter of minutes. I had our room key in hand before my husband had finished unloading our bags onto the bellhop cart. We stayed on the 5th floor and had a standard room with two Queen sized beds. The room was everything I have come to expect in a hotel carrying the Marriott name - clean, open and the beds were so comfortable!
Some amenities you will find at the Gettysburg Courtyard Marriott include: laundry facilities (coin operated), complimentary coffee in lobby and in-room, wireless internet (though I had my own broadband card, so I'm not sure if their wifi was free or not), cafe, bar, indoor pool and fitness room.
We spent a very comfortable night at this hotel and in the morning we stopped for breakfast in their cafe. You will find the usual continental breakfast fare (bagels, toast, cereal, coffee, juice, yogurt) as well as some hot options (potatoes, bacon, sausage, eggs, omelet station, french toast sticks, waffles). Breakfast was good and cost less than $30 with tip. (A hostess will show you to your seat and bring your drinks/refills.
Would we stay here again? Definitely. The staff who we encountered were all cheery and helpful. This hotel will put you in a great location close to all the touristy goodness. Prices average $99/night plus tax and go a bit higher in the summer - especially surrounding the anniversary of the battle (always in July around the 4th). We thought this hotel seemed to be a great value for the money.
Disclosure: Our family was provided with a complimentary stay at the Gettysburg Courtyard Marriott in order to facilitate the review. We were encouraged to share an honest review of our experience - good or bad. All opinions are 100% our own.
We stayed here with our two kids ages 4 and 2 and the staff could not have been more accommodating. Our room did not come standard with a fridge but they were happy to move one into our room so we could keep our kids drinks cold. The rooms are very comfortable. There is a ton of space to move around and you do not feel crowded.
The pool is a nice size and the area was very clean.
The laundry is free and they even gave us detergent to use. They were exceptionally friendly.
