"Such a cool hotel in such a nice city"

Some hotels are more family friendly than others. This is one of those hotels. From the moment we walked in the lobby and saw the pool table, I knew I was gonna like this place. I addition to the pool table, there is also a lobby bar and a nice fireplace to cozy up by. Directly off the lobby is a courtyard which is perfect for reading a book out of the Read it and Return library or your complimentary USA Today.
As with every Country Inn, this one served complimentary breakfast (and free homemade cookies!!!)  which is a huge perk when traveling with children. They can eat their bowl of cereal from the comfort of the room while watching cartoons or down in the breakfast room with the other guests.  There is also room service available.
What kid doesn’t want to swim in a pool when they stay at a hotel? This Country Inn has an indoor pool which I can imagine must be especially fun to enjoy when its snowing in January.  There is also a fitness center for all you crazy people who like to exercise while on vacation.
We stayed in a standard room which suited our family of four just fine. It was bigger than most standard rooms I have stayed in and was very nicely furnished. As with every Country Inn I have stayed at, the beds were incredibly comfortable. Another great feature of this property is that it is an entirely non-smoking property. I HATE to get into my room and be stifled by the smell of stale cigarette smoke. I certainly don't want to subject my children to that either.
One feature I saw available at this property that I haven’t seen at other is a short stature kit for those who aren’t as tall as the average person. It included a sturdy step stool, closet rod adaptor, security latch adaptor, and reach stick. Pretty cool!
Two other features worth mentioning are the complimentary local shuttle service and onsite laundry.  If your kids have a tendency to get stains on everything they wear, be sure to use the laundry facilities during your stay so you don’t run out of clean clothes.
The free high speed internet was a HUGE PLUS for me since I am a travel writer and the internet is my lifeline. Nothing bugs me more than a fancy hotel that charges $20 for internet. Wireless internet is always complimentary for guests at Country Inns and Suites properties.  
Overall I give this hotel 5 stars as a family friendly hotel because it really does fit the needs of the average family extremely well and does it with friendly staff and quality amenities. If you are staying in the Chicago area, definitely consider this hotel.
